Claiming they get "free housing" and "free healthcare" is flat-out wrong. Most of them don’t qualify for federal benefits, and the services they can access are minimal, like emergency care. Let’s not forget, they contribute billions to the U.S. economy through taxes. So, instead of pushing misleading and divisive nonsense, we need a fair, well thought-out discussion on immigration policy that actually addresses the issue. Trump’s immigration policies were a complete failure. His multi-billion dollar border wall, which he falsely promised Mexico would pay for, was nothing but a farce, it can be easily climbed, and sections have collapsed on their own. Meanwhile, he rejected a bipartisan bill that could have strengthened border security because he preferred to exploit immigration as a political weapon. This bill, which was even endorsed by the National Border Patrol Council, a union that backed Trump in 2020, proposed real solutions like increasing border patrol staff, boosting asylum processing, deporting those unqualified in mere weeks instead of 5 years and expanding detention capacity.
