Even tho Ilya brushed it off, Shane sees right through his act and he is conscious how much his running away last time actually hurt Ilya. So it's so important that Shane acknowledged that and apologized for it. Cause contrary to what Ilya certainly believed, it wasn't anything HE did that made Shane flee, it was just Shane's own fears/insecurities talking. To reach that level of intimacy with Ilya, calling each other's names, that was one step too much at that time.. But it was NOT Ilya's fault. He needed to hear that, truly 😭 #hollanov #heatedrivalry

my god how much i love this moment of shane successfully gagging ilya with a cute little joke and ilya brows shooting up in amusement and the way shane is just so giddy and full of love and smiles as he watches ilya fire back with a sassy response oh they are so in love i can't

I love the parallel of Ilya helping Shane through a panic attack. It highlights their growth but also consistency with each other. Ilya noticing vs shane admitting, reassuring & affirming, physical touch as comfort & Ilya making Shane smile helping him get out of fight or flight.

“Shane felt sick. He needed to leave. He realized, suddenly, as if waking from a dream, that he was standing alone in the middle of a dance floor...not dancing. Just... staring. At Ilya.”

as soon as Ilya texts "come over" Shane immediately starts getting dressed but keeps texting "no, we can't do this". YOU'RE SUCH A LIAR SHANE

Shane’s face shifting to serious after he asks “and if you win?” bc that’s Shane asking Ilya what he wants. After all the tension & time apart does Ilya still want him the way he wants Ilya? As far as Shane is concerned, their fate hangs in that moment before Ilya kisses him.

This scene breaks my heart because Shane had no idea Ilya was already planning on ending things between them. Right when Shane finally allowed himself to think of Ilya as someone he could be with even if it was in secret.

this whole scene !!!! how shane is freaking out and going “what should I do”, “he walks in on me” etc, putting it all on himself meanwhile ilya keeps talking about it as a “we”, offering to come with etc. shane is scared but ilya said we’re doing it together #heatedrivarly

gosh i love this scene of pure domesticity so much like they are just relaxing together, legs entangled, ilya rubbing shane's knee as he tries to speak gently to him and their easy banter started by shane to distract ilya from thinking about his family oh they are so perfect
