Yes, he died instantly - that was a brainstem shot. It severed his jugulars and his spinal cord - which is why he went immediately limp. The reason they didn't pronounce him dead, was because no doctor was on site and they can't officially call a death until they give him all the care possible - but he was dead before he hit the ground.

Im a hunter, i could tell the second he hit the floor he was dead. Seen that amount of blood in way ro many deer shots to not know it was instant. Also knew it was a high powered rifle, likely 30-06 or .308 imo. Very sad, and remains in my top 3 worst things i have ever seen
