I’m again imploring you to give Ron Howard’s Backdraft a viewing if you haven’t already. I don’t like Ron Howard- I love him. I grew up on his films & I still firmly believe he’s got more great films in his holster. Howard is at his best when given... show more

And while I’m at it, Sylvester Stallone should’ve received a Best Supporting Oscar nomination for Cop Land. You guys all know how much I love James Mangold & this is one of his best films, in part because of Stallone. Don’t tell me Sly doesn’t have a great filmography when he’s got films like Cop Land in his back pocket.

Backdraft is one of my favorite Ron Howard films & I need to know why this film isn’t talked about more. Howard pulls off some great filmmaking here but the casting is this film’s ultimate strength: Robert De Niro, Kurt Russell, Billy Baldwin & the late, great, Donald Sutherland.

The Paper is a great Robert Duvall film. Directed by Ron Howard, this film tells the story of New York City tabloid newspaper, in which Duvall is the man in charge. The entire cast here is loaded & it’s definitely one of Ron Howard’s better films. We don’t get films like this now

Clint Howard sets the record straight on Ron Howard blaming himself for his past addiction "Well, that's a nice thought, but I kind of call bullshit on that. What's a big brother gonna do?" "What's a big brother gonna do? What's a guy... I mean, I love Ron. I kind of knew what he was thinking" "Ron and I went to a Super Bowl, Super Bowl 14. It was the Steelers and the Rams at the Rose Bowl, and he gave me the speech" "He had been around a lot of young actors that get loaded or high or whatever... He goes, 'You know, it's one thing when you use drugs, but it's another thing when drugs start using you'" "The one problem with Ron is his talks were a little cliché. But if he would have played it different, I may have fully rejected it" "Ron is a Hall of Fame movie director. He's a better big brother. He still is a better big brother"

Ron Howard used to be a director capable of making #Oscar caliber films like A Beautiful Mind. What the hell happened? And don’t you dare accuse me of “hating for clicks”, I’m genuinely asking- when was the last time Ron Howard made a great film? It’s felt like an eternity.

Channing Tatum is utterly fantastic in Roofman & I strongly implore you to watch this film if you haven’t already. Roofman is the exact sort of middle-budget filmmaking that I grew up on. A few charismatic actors, a strong story…it’s all you need. Great film from an actor I love

Nick Nolte is 85. An actor I love. He’s made countless films & dozens of movies that I will always watch for as long as I live. His #Oscar nominated performance in Warrior is one of his best. He puts his entire soul on the line & then some. This is a film you should see.

Baz Luhrmann & I have had an up & down relationship over the years. There are films of his I adore & films of his I can’t believe were actually made. His version of Romeo + Juliet is the former. I’m partial because I saw this in high school- but it’s still a good film.

Julius Randle on his son Kyden Randle and the love he receives from Wolves fans “I might need to humble him(laughing). He’s a great kid, it’s his birthday today and the thing im proud of him the most is his big heart… he’s a really great kid and I don’t know if I’m going to take credit for it or give it to his mom”

Oaktree’s Howard Marks is the best. AI scares the living hell out of him. I suggest you give his most recent memo a look. It’s probably the best thing I’ve read in awhile. I’ll link it below.

I don’t want Clint Eastwood to stop acting or making films. Even if he’s 96- even if he’s given us a lifetime of great moments- I don’t want it to end. Eastwood’s handled his career with grace & class for decades. I can’t understate his contributions to this art form. Legend.

Madonna says when she broke up with Basquiat she painted over all of his painting in black Howard: "the artist Jean Michel Basquiat you left him because of drugs?" Madonna: "I did. He was an amazing man and deeply talented. I loved him." Howard: "Did you have a ton of his paintings?" Madonna: "Yeah but when I broke up with him he made me give them all back to him...then he painted over them black." Howard: " What would those paintings have been worth?" Madonna: "I don't know but anyway I shouldn't have given them back. Whatever. it doesn't matter. he was upset that I broke up with him"

Steven Spielberg is returning to UFOs in a few weeks with his release of Disclosure Day. It’s a good time to revisit one of his best films, Close Encounters of the Third Kind. As I’ve said before, I think this film is Spielberg’s best use of sound- sound is so key to this story.

A: I grew up watching a lot of #Nagarjuna sir's films like #Mass and #DonNo1. Nani: Both films were directed by #RaghavaLawrence, who is also a choreographer. His films are mainly for the masses, and his audience enjoys them fully. #Nani | #HIT3 | #AkkineniNagarjuna

Billy Crudup is the best part of Jay Kelly & needs to be nominated for an Oscar. I’ve loved Crudup since Almost Famous, which I think is probably his best work. Crudup’s a really relatable actor with strong range. Almost Famous is also a film I’m partial to given I grew up on it.

James Gandolfini’s final film was The Drop. His performance is breathtaking. Part of why I still have a hard time accepting Gandolfini’s passing is because he had so, so much more to give. Gandolfini found his post-Sopranos groove. Films like Killing Them Softly, Enough Said & The Drop resulted in some of the best work of Jim’s career. I don’t think I’ll ever get over his passing.

I had Danila Yurov as one of my 13 rookies to watch heading into the 25-26’ season & already he’s exceeded expectations. Still believe his comp is a Nico Hischier/esqe center. He’s already a great skater, strong & trustworthy in D zone & his offense is coming quickly. #mnwild

Video: I share an ugly story about Robert DeNiro: A story few know about ties to his film Backdraft and his lack of smarts. Trust me: the Raging BuIISHlT artist is dumb. As for him not loving America because our POTUS is in charge, he should take his low IQ to Iran.
