I have also sold my rentals. Tenant laws make it an unattractive investment, especially in Ontario. Good luck to anyone trying to sell their tenanted properties with tenants paying below market rent. Super stressful times when tenants asking for $30-40k to leave

This is the single reason I am not taking out another loan to purchase a 2nd rental property. Laws have to change, and yes landlords should treat the renters with respect.

OMG. So happy that we got rid of our rental properties at the beginning of the pandemic. Fortunately, we only ever had 1 bad tenant, but it was resolved quickly via the LTB. Not the case anymore.

Most of those RE investors are speculators who still won't run the math or fully consider the risks the landlord/tenant issues just starting to get spicy too. Ppl called us crazy when we sold vs renting out our old home, wonder how many of them will think the same by end of 2026

This is so true. It was a real eye opener for me 10 years ago when an unfortunate medical emergency resulted in moving both of my parents into assisted living. The range of prices was crazy then and, I'm sure, it's a lot worse now.

Landlord-Tenant is a complex ecosystem, and very backed up. There's a simple solution but nobody to press it.
