The pattern we see in Long Covid looks very similar to what virologists described years ago with Hepatitis B. In Hepatitis B, people who got very sick during the acute infection were much more likely to clear the virus. Only 3% of the clinically diagnosed group became chronic carriers. But in the group that never seemed sick and was diagnosed later through blood tests, 14% became chronic carriers. In other words, people who had a milder or almost silent acute infection were more likely to end up with chronic infection. This pattern is familiar in Long Covid as well. Many people who were extremely sick during acute covid do not show high rates of Long Covid. It wasn’t just Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine that was pulled from treating people with Covid. Azithromycin was also pulled. Which is strange because it is an antibiotic and antibiotics are used to treat people with a secondary bacterial chest infections as a result of a respiratory disease caused by a viral infection. Why did authorities stop the medical profession from using their own judgment to stop prescribing antibiotics to people with Covid to prevent a secondary bacterial infection? This deserves serious examination because this decision in my view contributed to the deaths of elderly people who caught Covid, especially those in aged care centres and especially those who died during the lockdowns in Victoria in the winter of 2020. Elderly people are especially vulnerable to influenza/respiratory diseases. Antibiotics were the greatest medical discovery in the 20th Century. It’s no coincidence that respiratory pandemics like the Spanish flu became virtually nonexistent after the discovery of penicillin, a life saving antibiotic. Unfortunately I didn’t became aware of this fact until after much of the hysteria had died down. Which is unfortunate because by withdrawing drugs that could have saved lives, the authorities made Covid appear much more deadly than it needed to be.

It’s because they were getting an extra 20% kickback from the government “Congress passed the CARES Act. Section 3710 of this CARES Act states that every Medicare patient that was diagnosed with COVID paid the hospital 20% more than the same admission would have if they didn't have that COVID diagnosis. — We were swabbing everyone in the hospital — Everyone that gets admitted to the hospital had to have a COVID swab — If a person came in with a broken hip, they were testing them for COVID to see if they would need to go on a COVID side of the hospital, but they were also getting 20% more” I looked into this and it’s 100% correct, it did not have to be why the patient walked through the door, it just had to be a positive test This 20% reimbursement pay increase applied to both principal and secondary diagnoses. Meaning a patient admitted for a broken hip who also tested positive for COVID would qualify for the higher payment on the entire stay

Sam Harris is upset that the majority of Joe Rogan’s audience believes 1) Covid was a “non-issue,” 2) it was “not much worst than the flu” 3) Covid deaths were substantially inflated - “lots of people died with Covid, not from Covid” 4) “many, many people died from the vaccine.” 1) What? Joe doesn’t even believe that. Otherwise why did he constantly tell people to stay healthy during Covid? 2) Fact-check: true for most healthy people, especially young. But for elderly people with comorbidities: a concerning issue. 3) Fact-check: true. Estimates ranging from 30-40% of incidental COVID cases in hospitalizations. Similar for deaths. Covid-logged deaths include homicide, suicide, and accidents! (which Sam mocks) 4) Vague, but did one too many healthy people who sought no benefit from the vaccine die from adverse effects? Yes. South Korea study found several cardiac-related deaths post-vaccine. Was it on the scale of millions? Who knows. Maybe. Some estimates suggest yes, others no. Does Sam Harris think critically before making such self-defeating claims about the pandemic? Sigh. He knows I’m happy to talk to him about this whenever he wants.

This 45-second clip with Dr. Peter Hotez is difficult to watch. A mom from Texas desperately asks him why she keeps getting “really bad” COVID. She got three COVID shots, took multiple rounds of Paxlovid, but she keeps “getting COVID often.” Dr. Hotez tells the woman that her repeated COVID infections are basically her fault for skipping boosters. WOMAN: “I’m getting COVID often. I took Paxlovid the third time, and then a few weeks later I got it again. COVID was really bad on me.” HOTEZ: “After you had your first two immunizations way back in 2021, did you get boosters regularly?” WOMAN: “I got one booster, and then after that I stopped getting them.” HOTEZ: “Yeah. So that’s the reason why you keep up with the boosters.” The saddest part about this interaction is that the woman was so convinced by Hotez that getting COVID was her fault that she was eager to get another booster shot after the show.
