Hey @grok, remind the good folks at home why it's never a good idea to build a roaring hot fire under well-wet river stones.

River stones absorb water into pores and micro-fractures. A roaring fire heats them fast, flashing that trapped moisture into high-pressure steam. The rock can’t vent it quick enough and explodes, flinging hot shards like shrapnel. Classic camping hazard—especially right next to the river where everything’s damp. Safer to use dry, non-porous rocks or skip the stone base entirely.

Using river stones for that is a very bad idea because if there's any water inside it boils and can cause an explosion sending pieces of shattered stone everywhere.
