Ya… 😬

The secret cops ahead warning button

Haha, YES!

Imagine Gen Z trying to drive 3 in the tree

@CourtneyJd383 That's one i never had

This is why the “keys to my car” is plural.

How about this? 1964 Dodge Dart…

But are you this old?

Square was the for the ignition, round bow was for the doors , trunk and glove box.

Door trunk glove box

The trunk. Come on man. Had a Pontiac that was so old and keys so worn down the ignition key worked for both. But not a standard feature.

Are you old enough to unlock and get into a car, and not have it start, as you being to realize this isnt your car??

Yep. I sat in a car.... realizing it was parked right next to mine

Is for the additional mother in law seat in the rear cab ;)

Very much could be

Truck

Trunk, doors, glove box

Yup.

It’s the factory alarm key on my fast 1972 LT-1 Corvette

Trunk & doors

The door lock, the trunk and the glove box if I remember correctly!!!

Release the trunk monkey!

Where you stash bodies if you don't have any goomba's to clean up your mess. I think I'm going to come back as John Wick in my next life lol😂😂

Was to keep your belongings safe from valet attendants, another key also sometimes for the fuel cap when they had locks too 🤷🏼♂️

My old set of keys!

The trunk!

Still have a car like that.

Was it always called the valet key? Only in my 40’s… but I don’t think it was called that growing up

True story, my Dad had a 66 Parisienne and I had a 66 Strato Chief (old car from my Grandpa) and the ignition key could start both vehicles 👍

Doors, trunk and glove box. The odd model had a locking tailgate too

The two-key system (often with a square head for ignition and a round head for trunk/glovebox) was a hallmark of General Motors, which continued this design into the very early 1990s. Interesting.

The doors and trunk

Unlock the doors

I’m so old I remember going to Wiengartens ( before Walmarts) with my grandma in her car and her leaving the keys in the ignition, on purpose, while we went in to shop! She said “Ain’t nobody gonna take my car! “. And she meant it. (Small town Louisiana) around 1966.

Square for door and ignition. Round for trunk and glove box.

There were only 100 patterns in total on GM cars. The ignition and trunk keys would interchange at random. I remember having a trunk key from an old Pontiac work in the ignition of a Chevy Biscayne. If you collected as many old keys as possible you could always find a free ride

Door and ignition

Prior to 1973, the secondary key was for the trunk & glove box only. Beginning in 1973, it also unlocks the doors. This change was made so an ignition (primary) key could not be made by yanking a door lock and making a key for it. 🤓

door lock

… To throw the dead body in..
