Again, people should really pay attention to the Chinese company Unitree making these robots (and selling them - by the thousands - to consumers for a rather low $1,300): The founder is on the record saying that he ultimately wants to create "general-purpose household robots that can assist homeowners in various tasks such as washing dishes, cleaning floors, making beds and cooking". In short the humanoid helper robots that we've been seeing in sci-fi movies for decades. At this stage, if any company in the world has a shot of getting there first, it's probably them.

The bipedal robot is used in manufacturing operations, while the wheeled humanoid robot is used for unstructured, flexible tasks such as warehouse sorting, supermarket shelving, and office cleaning. China is manufacturing these humanoid robots at scale, we buy them for amusements and shop inaugrations. The robot is being felicitated, being treated as a VIP, will be revered and even a shrine would be constructed for it in few years. Chinese are doing 100mtrs sprint events with these robots. Nothing to worry though, it will be easy and cheaply available to buy from China.

While everyone is still arguing about the point of robots dancing or boxing, research labs, universities, and AI firms worldwide are already snapping them up. People are still questioning when robots will do chores, but they are already deployed in specialized jobs right now. Humanoid general-purpose capability isn't going to happen overnight. But if they can master just one task, they deliver value. Just like us—you only truly master one or two domains. Plus, these humanoids went from development to market in just a year or two. They are essentially kids with infinite room for growth.
