And you should not feel guilty about it! Before you misconstrue my point, please take note of the word “some”. I haven’t said you should cut off and turn your back on all your homies, friends and family members. But be smart about who, from your old life, you let into your new life! And stop having survivor’s guilt or remorse over that! I can’t explain it better but maybe A$ap and Snoop Dogg can.

It’s not about forcing a relationship back together or acting like everything is fine. True forgiveness is a quiet, powerful choice you make for yourself. It’s releasing the heavy weight of resentment, anger, and bitterness that only poisons you. It means saying, “I acknowledge what happened, I’ve felt the pain, and I choose to no longer carry it.” But forgiveness does not require reconciliation. It does not mean you have to trust again. It does not mean you owe the person access to your life, your time, or your heart. You can forgive someone completely… and still walk away. You can forgive and set firm boundaries. You can forgive and protect your peace. Forgiveness is freedom. Sometimes that freedom looks like grace from a distance. Sometimes it means loving yourself enough to say, “I forgive you… and I’m moving on without you.” Let it go. Heal. Grow. And never feel guilty for choosing you. 💛
