imagine still sending brand guidelines as a pdf š we build clients a password protected brand portal. they log in, download assets, copy colors, grab icons and banners. everything in one place. this is how it should be done.

Love your work, but posting other designers and laughing at their work is not it.

sorry when did i laugh at someone elseās work?

Right about here, itās condescending.

but who am i laughing at? i dont understand lol

I think thereās a difference between saying, āI donāt think PDF brand guidelines are the best way to deliver a brand anymore, hereās what I do insteadā and quote-tweeting another designerās actual work while laughing about it. Once you use their post as the example, the joke isnāt just about the method anymore. Youāve attached a real designer and their work to the thing youāre making fun of. Whether you intended to put them down or not, thatās naturally how it can come across. You can promote password-protected brand portals and explain why you think theyāre better without making another designerās work the example of what not to do. Especially in a creative community, I think thereās a way to share a better approach without making someone else feel like their work is the punchline.

ruben is our brand designer, if you look closely its the same project.

Well then Iām stupid lmao

PDFs are so outdated now. This makes so much more sense. Is this a personal product for them? Or do you have your own internal tool, which they need to log in to?

we have a system where each clients gets a live portal :)

Iykyk

Nah just keep it all linked in Fig

i like this but PDFs are easier and clearer to use for people. Easier to make look nice. Easier to update. Not outdated - just different options.

How to build something like that man ?

Whatās with the dunking?

Is there an app that does that or did you build this yourself?

So cool youāre discovering it after half a decade

This is the way.

DAM webapps or tools rather than a PDF is typically down to the clients budget and scale. A custom built portal is good for like mid sized clients with localised brand/marketing efforts.

š the modern way

I LOVE THIS. Thanks for the inspo!

True! We are testing that too! But the problem is scale it with all the client and tech stack is an issue too as we need to ensure it hase to be managable by vibe coders too! What us your tech stack for this btw? Any headless cms?

Genuine question (no hate) whatās the difference between this and Google Drive?

Tbh all youāre comparing is a vertical scroll with the push of a button, the content and function of both, here, are identical. Web app useful for motion thatās about it.

Bros setting the bar high with this one

This has been the standard for at least the last half decade

Looks very clean and effective! How do clients access this? Do they run locally or you host it somewhere?

Are these prompts?

You're 2 steps ahead of the game

Been doing this for 4 yearsā¦

This is how brand guidelines should actually work. How long does it usually take you to stand one of these portals up for a client?

I dig it

This turns ācan you send the assets?ā into a real client experience. A single source of truth for colors, icons, and usage rules should cut a surprising amount of back-and-forth once a project moves fast. Do clients use the portal, or is the bigger win fewer clarification messages?

Way better than a pdf honestly

Bonus: make this downloadable as PDF

Smart take

This is cool. Even i tried to do the same with notion but never really works lol.

Exactly, Smart solution for a real problem.

codex and gpt sunburst by the way

right now I'm vibe-coding an online brand book, and I believe it's the future for designers and clients
