Imma speak from the heart about the pointlessly destructive attacks on Harvard and other universities. I may be a bit lost for how to find the right words, but I do hope you'll get a sense of what I'm trying to say.

Everyone should listen to what he has to say. The attacks on Harvard and other Universities are cruel and ill conceived and will hurt us in world standing, as well.

Foreigners who attend American schools and then go home also carry with them positive views of American values for the rest of their lives. This soft power is a great American export. America has friends everywhere. Well, maybe that is at risk now.

The attack on ideas, on universities, on education itself, makes this administration and this particular incarnation of the GOP un-American, and tragic. We set the standards for the world on creating citizens who are informed and ready to self-govern.

Well said. Easy to sneer at ‘elite’ Unis but not everyone who goes to an elite Uni is a posh/trust fund baby. The message this sends (along with everything else) goes well beyond Harvard, it’s that the US has turned into a nasty, snarling unwelcoming place. Enjoy being alone.

Had Wolfers attended Harvard in the 40's he would have undoubtably made the same speech. Alumni are indoctrinated, their indoctrination is directly proportional to their effort to get in, fit in and score well. An economist should know what investment means, and Wolfers is fully invested in Harvard. Justin seems like a nice guy, a good and decent fellow to share a pint with, but the truth is he has sowed his seeds in very shallow, evil and hollow ground, Harvard. If, Wolfers were to be honest with himself he would have to admit, had he graduated Harvard in 1950, he would have very different views than he has today.

I like you, you are brilliant t yes, no problem. But Harvard is a private university accepting tens of billions in grants and selling seats at its university to the highest bidder. Is a fucking Ponzi scheme and it should stop. Accept the best students.
