This goes well beyond "values." It's about shared heritage, shared history, shared foundational ethos. There are people immigrating to the U.S. and Canada whose religions, history, heritage are so absolutely foreign, and in some cases anathema to the ones essential to those nations' culture and mores, that assimilation is impossible. The implications for women and girls are obvious.
