Shittiest weld ever.

This is the worst weld ever.

That is the worst repair ever! That repair is not even close to the initial strength of the hook. Correctly you would chamfer the threaded piece at an angle of 45 degrees and then weld it in place with a high strength electrode, then heat treat the hook to 450c for 60 minutes.

Load test 2 mins later 😂

I'm not sure about that weld. Um...at all.

Same here, I wouldn’t trust that weld at all.

Repairing this Hitch is exactly why loads fail and people get hurt ! Shitty welding. Weak joint absolutely stupid

I wouldn't trust it.

Measure with a caliper, mark with chalk, and cut with axe blows.

I have lots of concerns about the repair

With a weld like that and no bevel it’s just useless.

Ok

Very poor machining and wielding, especially for heavy duty crane hook

Not a crane hook, a pintle hitch you daffy bastard!

Haha my bad, I got it wrong 😄

Not one drop of milk lubricant used while on the lathe. Crap weld, I could do better and that ain’t saying much.

🙈

You’d be put in jail for this in North America and rightly so, ridiculously dangerous

Shame that the process included the strength and knowledge of a screw cut thread to compromise it all with such a poor weld. The straight bar may not be cast steel like the end piece and therefore dissimilar welding rods with deep penetration and heat treatment should be used.
