There was a period when a Palestinian state could have been declared: before 1967, when Gaza was under Egyptian control and the West Bank under Jordanian rule. There was no Israeli occupation of those territories and no settlements. East Jerusalem was not under Israeli control. But no Palestinian state emerged. Later, after 1973, another opening appeared. Egypt pivoted from war to peace. Israel showed it was willing to trade land for recognition. Again, no Palestinian state. Why is that?

Barrón-López: I was talking to the lawyers for those U.S. Citizen children that were deported today, and they were telling me that, you know, essentially refuting what the administration is saying, saying that these mothers had no ability to talk to legal counsel, that there were multiple legal custodians that were willing to take the children and take care of them, and could legally take care of them in the United States. And they essentially had no opportunity to work that out with immigration officials. And one of the children was deported within 24 hours. The others were deported within three days and had no ability to talk to legal counsel
