Bill devised graffiti for the Outlands. ‘Not to be born is best’ was one close to his heart. The absence of death made the film a meditation on death. It explored the possibilities of human evolution, and the consequences of eliminating the procreative urge, which drives so much of our lives. I shot the picture on locations close to my home and in Ardmore Studios. Christel designed the costumes and my four children appeared briefly, in a flashback to a time, a hundred years back, when there were young children in the Vortex. The script was overloaded and the production undernourished. More money would have given this vision of a future world more substance. It was too ambitious for its own good, but it is the ambition, its engagement with important ideas that redeems it. Ok guys.. The concert was great! It sounded so much better in person than it did in the videos. I was so psyched! I’m posting the finale but it’s in 3 parts. The ending was so good. Actually the whole concert was amazing. I’ll go through all the videos and post the best ones eventually. So here is the first part of the finale. I’ll put the next 2 underneath this one in order. You really need to watch all three. The very end was great great great. It was an outdoor concert!

Battletruck (1982). A Kiwi take on Mad Max, even if the lead actors are all American. Michael Beck battles James Wainwright after the Oil Wars leave the world in desperation. Shot on the Central Otago plains of New Zealand it's all action, lots of carnage and the aforementioned battletruck smashes everything in its path. John Ratzenberger's in it too!
