President Samia Suluhu Hassan, who came into office in March 2021, is expected to officially inaugurate the mammoth project before the end of the year. The project was initially scheduled for completion in July 2023, but construction was delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic. Originally known as the Kigongo-Busisi Bridge, the Chinese-built mega infrastructure was renamed Magufuli Bridge in honour of the former president. The project is being developed by the China Civil Engineering Construction Group (CCECG) and China Railway. The bridge was entirely financed by the government of Tanzania through its own revenues. The People's Daily, the official newspaper of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), said construction of the bridge was completed on October 6. "As the last tank of cement was poured on Sunday, the construction of the Magufuli Bridge was completed by two Chinese companies in Tanzania's northwestern Mwanza region," the People's Daily said in an online post. With no religious festivals, no accidents, no extraordinary rains, nothing. This is simply the state of the highway and traffic every day. In the financial capital of the country. The road doesn't have potholes. The potholes have a road. Chandrayaan-3 will have a more stable landing on the moon than cars have on this patch. It is the same thing, every after year, for decades. Anyone who travels through this patch knows the nuisance that it causes everyone. The infamous Fountain Hotel - where you lose 2 hours of your life that you can never get back. Dear Nitin Gadkari ji, I appreciate your work. Once you are done attending conclaves, I request you to travel on this highway with your officers on any day of the week, at any time you choose, and just experience the torture that ordinary people go through on a daily basis. A man was killed and another sustained serious injuries after a speeding Toyota Fortuner rammed into a goods tempo inside a tunnel on the Missing Link section of the Mumbai–Pune Expressway. The accident occurred when the Fortuner, travelling from Pune towards Mumbai, collided with a goods tempo carrying vegetables that was moving in the same direction. One person died on the spot, while another suffered serious injuries. Three other occupants of the SUV escaped unhurt. Preliminary information suggests that all five occupants of the Fortuner were residents of the Bhumkar Chowk area in Wakad, Pimpri-Chinchwad. CCTV footage of the accident has surfaced, capturing the moment of the collision. Further investigation is underway.

She did not waste time when she dissolved the board of the road accident fund. Credit where credit is due. @BarbaraCreecy_ WELL DONE MINISTER IF THE GNU. Sidenote: she is a listening minister, any complaints against departments on her portfolio are handled. Well done minister. I posted in Jan about OR Tambo airport. Toilets and escalators. The CEO of ACSA had a press conference the next day to resolve the issue because the minister wanted a comprehensive update within 14 days. All escalators working and toilets now have full time staff.

When I was a kid, my cousins used to come to Kolkata from different states, and the Metro train was one of the main attractions. We used to travel from Dum Dum to Tollygunge just to see the Metro. Another attraction was Vidyasagar Setu. We would go all the way from North Kolkata to Kona just to see it. There was a time when Kolkata was ahead of every other state. Now look at the Missing Link of the Mumbai–Pune Expressway. They have built an 8 lane road through tunnels across valleys. An 8.9 km long tunnel and a 4.4 km long bridge. Can you even imagine the TMC government pulling off something like that? They are not able to control traffic for 7 days for the Chingrighata Metro work. Bengal cannot even dream of projects like this under Mamata’s rule. This project has been completed by the Maharashtra government. 👇🏻

Ndugu, STOP misleading Kenyans! The road criss-crosses Kitutu Chache North and South constituencies in Kisii County, and is 64.6 km. The project was initially awarded on 11th May, 2016, and works commenced on 5th August, 2016, after its launch by President Uhuru Kenyatta. But the contract was mutually terminated on 16th May, 2023, due to the contractor's non-performance. At the time of termination, the contractor had completed 27km, with 77 months having lapsed out of the 30-month contract period. The project was re-tendered and awarded on 14th March 2024, with works commencing on 22nd June 2024. President William Samoei Ruto, PhD officially relaunched the newly awarded road contract, fulfilling his pledge to complete all stalled road projects. The contract period for the works is 42 months and a further maintenance period of 36 months. FYI: A project launch is often just a ceremonial event, and it sometimes occurs after works have already begun, hence the phrase ‘OFFICIAL LAUNCH’. Don’t overly concern yourself with plaques. You should’ve gone to Kegogi-Sombogo-Marani-Ititi section where works are ongoing. Today’s photos of the ongoing works below:
