President Samia Suluhu Hassan, who came into office in March 2021, is expected to officially inaugurate the mammoth project before the end of the year. The project was initially scheduled for completion in July 2023, but construction was delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic. Originally known as the Kigongo-Busisi Bridge, the Chinese-built mega infrastructure was renamed Magufuli Bridge in honour of the former president. The project is being developed by the China Civil Engineering Construction Group (CCECG) and China Railway. The bridge was entirely financed by the government of Tanzania through its own revenues. The People's Daily, the official newspaper of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), said construction of the bridge was completed on October 6. "As the last tank of cement was poured on Sunday, the construction of the Magufuli Bridge was completed by two Chinese companies in Tanzania's northwestern Mwanza region," the People's Daily said in an online post. With no religious festivals, no accidents, no extraordinary rains, nothing. This is simply the state of the highway and traffic every day. In the financial capital of the country. The road doesn't have potholes. The potholes have a road. Chandrayaan-3 will have a more stable landing on the moon than cars have on this patch. It is the same thing, every after year, for decades. Anyone who travels through this patch knows the nuisance that it causes everyone. The infamous Fountain Hotel - where you lose 2 hours of your life that you can never get back. Once you are done attending conclaves, I request you to travel on this highway with your officers on any day of the week, at any time you choose, and just experience the torture that ordinary people go through on a daily basis. A man was killed and another sustained serious injuries after a speeding Toyota Fortuner rammed into a goods tempo inside a tunnel on the Missing Link section of the Mumbai–Pune Expressway. The accident occurred when the Fortuner, travelling from Pune towards Mumbai, collided with a goods tempo carrying vegetables that was moving in the same direction. One person died on the spot, while another suffered serious injuries. Three other occupants of the SUV escaped unhurt. #Hyderabad : Two students were arrested by the RGIA Airport police on 17th Feb, for performing dangerous #Stunts (#CarStunts) with #BMW and #Fortuner luxury cars on #ORR stretch near #Shamshabad in the early hours of 9th Feb. The video had gone viral on social media platforms and it raised #RoadSafety concerns among the motorists. They removed the number plates during stunts, the RGI Airport police traced the cars with the help of CCTV and after identifying the drivers caught them. The luxury cars were also seized. The arrested are Mohammed Obaidullah (25), a resident of Rajendranagar and Zohair Siddiqui (25), a resident of Malakpet on 9th February went on the ORR Shamshabad and were doing stunts in two different cars. The act was captured on the closed circuit cameras installed on the ORR stretch.

When I was a kid, my cousins used to come to Kolkata from different states, and the Metro train was one of the main attractions. We used to travel from Dum Dum to Tollygunge just to see the Metro. Another attraction was Vidyasagar Setu. We would go all the way from North Kolkata to Kona just to see it. There was a time when Kolkata was ahead of every other state. Now look at the Missing Link of the Mumbai–Pune Expressway. They have built an 8 lane road through tunnels across valleys. An 8.9 km long tunnel and a 4.4 km long bridge. Can you even imagine the TMC government pulling off something like that? They are not able to control traffic for 7 days for the Chingrighata Metro work. Bengal cannot even dream of projects like this under Mamata’s rule. This project has been completed by the Maharashtra government. 👇🏻
