In a new interview in The Rolling Stone Studio, Tom Morello (Tom Morello) calls Rage Against the Machine splitting a "failure" that opened "a million beautiful windows." "Like you're able to have the politics that you believe in and the music that you love. You know, on the cover... show more

Tom Morello (Tom Morello) opens up about teaming up with Bruce Bruce Springsteen after the ICE killings in Minneapolis: "Bruce and I were talking and he had written the song 'Streets of Minneapolis' and he asked me to play it at the show. And I thought, this is such a gorgeous song. He was concerned that it was maybe too spot-on, too sort of nail on the head. You know, and I proposed that he has 40 records of great nuanced poetry and sometimes it's alright to, you know, kick them in the teeth."

Tom Morello (Tom Morello) opens up about the loss of his mother Mary Morello and her legacy: "When my mom passed, it was just the overwhelming, you know, I heard from teenage girl refugees in Afghanistan who had been inspired by her life. You know, I heard from the president of Chile, you know, who had been in the Rage Against the Machine most pit in 2010 and had followed Mary Morello's story. You know, some of my favorite artists were doing moments of silence at their concerts for this little old lady from suburban Illinois who never had any ambition beyond just trying to help people."

Tom Morello (Tom Morello) talks to Rolling Stone about the controversy surrounding Macklemore's removal from Ed Sheeran's stadium tour. "It's a distraction because, you know, Ed Sheeran is not a victim or someone we should be focusing on, nor is Macklemore. The war crimes that were brought to the fore on the stage by Macklemore's speech are the ones that should be the primary focus, and not be distracted by whether or not Ed Sheeran is crying today or crying tomorrow."

Tom Morello (Tom Morello) says his muse for his new album was his 15-year-old son Roman Morello who's gone on tour with him for the last three summers. "I would be with my ear to his door poaching his best riffs for this record. He contributed to five songs on the record, and we just got done with a run of shows and I've never been more excited or happier playing music and writing music than I am right now."

How would Bruce Springsteen define patriotism? "I believe in critical patriotism," Bruce Springsteen told Geoff Bennett (Geoff Bennett). "I believe that's the definition of a patriot, that you love your country so much that you are willing to look at it clearly, recognize its faults, encourage it to be a better place and believe that you carry in your heart the country that is waiting." "Bruce Springsteen: Finding America in Song" is a PBS News special exploring Springsteen’s extraordinary career, his lasting impact on American music, and the opening of the Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music at Monmouth University. Shaboozey reflects to Rolling Stone on the impact of working with Beyoncé and what her co-sign meant to him: “...so to be a part of that project really just kind of gave me a stamp and a battery pack, and it put it behind me that, like, you know, you're on a project with a legend and she asked you to be a part of this project. And one of the biggest things that people don't know, I recorded two of those verses and when it came out, she didn't change a single thing. Not an ad-lib, nothing. She allowed me to just be me on that project, so it really just was motivating.”

Hunter Dickinson on his one season playing for Kansas men's basketball "I had expectations coming in of what it was going to be like. And, you know, it was even better than I expected to be able to play for Coach Self, to be able to play with these guys and just be able to play and Allen Fieldhouse...you can kind of almost dream of, you know, when you're growing up playing basketball to be able to play on the stage for this program. You know, obviously it didn't go the way we wanted to, But, you know, I had a lot of fun this year and, you know, I wouldn't trade it for the world."

Jawn, you should try putting your head down the toilet and getting someone to flush it. I thank God every single day that I didn't destroy my soul chasing your trends. I refused to break my chastity despite being in a long term relationship. I can still truly love someone, thank God I am a virgin. You on the other hand, cannot. You'll never get that back. How do you feel, turd? How does it feel to be lifeless husk whose possible future is frozen in the past within someone that broke their bond with you? The reality is in that moment you stopped being spiritually alive, and turned into the same material stone is made of. You cannot form a pair bond and become something greater, like a cell that's been separated from a body unable to subdivide. You can reproduce meaningless biomass just like the trash around you, but it will never have love, and will wither just like the stone that you are. Nothing you ever do will be authentic, and you know it in your heart, your mind is still stuck on the moment you threw it all away and you will never be able to take the person you are with seriously. You will be cheating on every single person you are with from now until the moment you finally return from biowaste to raw material again. I'd tell you to burn in hell but we both know you're already suffering the fires of hell as you read this.

Mike Vrabel gives a masterclass on mindset, self-talk, and dealing with doubt. "You can't let doubt creep into what you do as a person. I don't care what you do." "You have to be able to talk to yourself and not listen to yourself so much. You have to tell yourself what to believe." Read that again about your self-talk. Talk to yourself - don't just listen to yourself. Your mind will feed you doubt, fear, and negativity. Your job is to challenge it. Tell yourself what's true, not what's easy to believe. "That doesn't say that there aren't tough times that you struggle with failure. You have to be able to recognize it and know that that is a part of all of us." Failure isn't the opposite of success - it's part of the path to it. Successful people don't avoid adversity. They expect it. They know that they must learn from the setbacks and challenges. "If you coach long enough, you're gonna get fired. Just like if you play long enough, you're gonna get cut or you're gonna get traded. That's just how this business is." That's the reality. Not cynicism...clarity. "I've tried to explain it to the players that this is what happens. And I'm grateful for the opportunity to be able to do it with this group of guys." Tough times happen. The choice is to be a tough person that overcomes those tough times. (🎥New England Patriots )

I've been playing with a feature for my prose editor, I call "ghost cut". Y'all know how to cut and paste. You hit ctrl+x, the text disappears and goes into the clipboard. Then you move the caret and ctrl+v to paste it into a new location. You've done that a bazillion times, I bet. An annoyance I have with this is that as soon as you cut, the text reflows—and you have to reorient yourself in the "page". The solution I'm playing with is to ghost the text that was just cut. It only disappears from view once you paste it. I'm kinda liking it so far. But there is more testing to be done. Does anyone know of any precedence for this? I've not seen this in any editor or word processor.
