Take Noni Madueke for instance, his transfer to Arsenal was a mess. A lot of the fans didn't understand the move and there was a lot of displeasure about it online. How do you think that made Madueke feel? This is a guy who was on top of his game in the Netherlands before moving to Chelsea and everything changed for him. He went from a confident dribbling monster, fighting for silverware to whatever he was at Chelsea, a shadow of himself. Now he has won the league in his first season at Arsenal and made the world cup squad for England. Arteta is not only saving the lives of the fans, he is also saving the lives of his players. This incident is depicted in the Inspector Avinash series available on Jio Cinema. I just called the number on the sign and was told by the first person that spoke with me that the homes were being sold to the public but you had to be Sikh to buy them. The second person, likely Manheet Singh of Juno Homes, was quick to correct the record and said the homes were open to anyone. He said the sign called it a “Sikh community” because it included a temple, and that there was a misunderstanding. I told him if a community with a Christian church in the center advertised itself as a “Christian community” it would skirt the line (and likely violate the Fair Housing Act). He argued Mormons build communities and prefer their own religion but allow others, and that the Sikh community is about believing in one God and is open to all. Under normal circumstances I would have identified myself as a member of the media but I called anonymously to ensure I received more honest answers. It was announced on the line before I started recording.

I was listening to a sermon recently from one of my favorite teachers, Tim Keller, who sadly passed from this earth earlier this year. He was talking about the power and meaning of the words “Peace On Earth”. I was deeply encouraged and challenged to consider the significance of those words, particularly what they meant when announced by the angels 2000 years ago, and what they mean to us in 2023. As I was reflecting on all of that in light of what’s happening in my life personally with family and friends as well as in the world as a whole, I started thinking about a song I wrote a few years ago with my friend Tom Douglas called “A Desperate Benediction (Peace on Earth)” and suddenly found myself rewriting some of the words of this song, specifically related to right now...Christmas 2023. I’m not even sure as a songwriter what the rules are on this kind of a thing, but I felt strongly that I wanted to share it with you…So here you go. Peace on Earth, Christmas 2023.
