In an exclusive interview for Al Mayadeen, Professor Mohammad Marandi noted that while "a lot has been agreed upon, there is still work to be done," and added that Iran’s chief negotiator, #Iran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, is actively pursuing the file. He expressed cautious optimism, saying that... in his view "the chances for an agreement is high." Marandi argued that the United States "failed in this war" and that the #US-Israeli war on Iran has already had serious global economic consequences that are still unfolding. He also pointed to continued violations by the Israeli side, saying they have repeatedly undermined ceasefire understandings, especially in #Lebanon, and remain "the biggest problem" obstructing any lasting agreement. Highlighting regional dynamics, he praised the "heroic" role of the Resistance in Lebanon, "fighting the most heroic of battles to save Lebanon... to save the honor and dignity of the people of the region and beyond." In an interview for Al Mayadeen, Professor Mohammad Marandi affirmed that the United States is actively working against the very memorandum of understanding it signed, stating that "the United States has collaborated with the President and Prime Minister that they installed in #Lebanon in order to undermine the agreement." He added that the #US is "encouraging ships to violate Iran’s regulations that are in accordance with the MoU," warning that any Iranian response is then used as a pretext for further escalation. Marandi also pointed to US violations, including delays over Israeli occupation forces' withdrawal from South Lebanon and the release of #Iran's frozen assets. While acknowledging limited US compliance under pressure, he concluded that Iran "will not accept this" and will continue leveraging the Strait of Hormuz until the US abides by the agreement. Speaking to Al Mayadeen, Professor Mohammad Marandi argued that Iran's decision to shut the Strait of Hormuz has placed US President Donald Trump before a defining choice. "Is he going to choose the United States? Or is he going to choose the Israeli regime?" Marandi asked, arguing that Trump now has "no third choice" between protecting the US economy or forcing "Israel" to halt its aggression and ceasefire violations in Lebanon. He said Iran briefly reopened the Strait to demonstrate that it sought an end to the war and expected the US to honor its commitments, but after "they didn't act," Tehran closed it again. Marandi stressed that Iran "is dead serious," insisting it will not compromise until the Israeli occupation ends its war, withdraws from Lebanon, and fully implements the agreement, warning that "Iran has even implied that if this is not enough; they are willing to go further... It will strike 'Israel'." Seyed Mohammad Marandi #Iran #WarOnIran #UnitedStates #Lebanon #AlMayadeen

In an interview for #AlMayadeen, Professor Mohammad Marandi said that the ceasefire related to #Lebanon as part of the #US-Iran talks should have been supported by the government, highlighting that it would have benefited the country’s security and political stability, without costing Lebanon anything. According to Marandi, instead, the Lebanese prime minister and allies chose to undermine the ceasefire in order to continue the war, "so that people in the south would suffer and the Resistance would suffer," adding that "and so that he could have his opportunity to normalize with the Israeli regime." Professor Marandi said that people will remember that the ceasefire was undermined, and ultimately, Iran will not tolerate the current situation and will continue increasing pressure, linking the broader regional trajectory to rising global economic instability. Speaking to Al Mayadeen, Professor Mohammad Marandi asserted that Iran never expected the United States to implement the memorandum of understanding, stressing that the "Iranians have no trust in the #Trump regime." He also added that "Iran knew that the #UnitedStates would drag its feet as much as possible," arguing that it had agreed to electronic signatures without a formal ceremony because of that distrust, adding that Iran's leverage lies in its control of the Strait of Hormuz. Marandi further asserted that "#Iran won the war," and warned that "Iran will continue to use that leverage" until the US fulfills its commitments, saying the future of the agreement depends on whether the US ultimately honors its side of the deal. As for the signed framework agreement between the Lebanese authorities and the Israeli occupation, Professor Marandi said it is an attempt by Washington to violate the US-Iran MoU and an attempt by the US to "undermine the agreement". In an interview for Al Mayadeen, Professor Mohammad Marandi explains that the US siege on Iranian ports was the result of the fact that #Iran said, "No, Lebanon was supposed to be a part of the ceasefire, and it has to be a part of the ceasefire." He added, "So there's no doubt that Iran will not end this conflict without the Israeli regime being forced to leave all of #Lebanon." In an interview for Al Mayadeen, Professor Mohammad Marandi said that he believes that the trip of Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Iran's parliament speaker, to Doha, Qatar, was successful. He explained that there were two agendas, one of which was to ensure that if there were a US-Iran agreement, Iranian money "effectively stolen by the US government would be quickly returned to Iran." The second reason, according to Professor Marandi, is to pave the way for a new environment, a new condition for these countries to shift policy away from Washington. Speaking to Al Mayadeen, Professor Mohammad Marandi said the US-Iran negotiations have effectively returned to the framework that existed weeks ago after the United States withdrew additional conditions it had attempted to impose. Referring to remarks by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Marandi maintained that the release of Iran’s frozen assets remains part of the agreement despite US claims to the contrary. He argued that US President Donald Trump's last-minute demands, along with the escalation against Lebanon, Iran, and the Strait of Hormuz, only delayed progress before ultimately failing to alter the deal's core terms. According to Marandi, the agreement now largely reflects the understandings that had already been under discussion, including sanctions relief on Iran's energy exports, the release of Iranian assets, and ending the war on Lebanon.
