Ana Sayfaya Dön

In ancient India, knowledge was never accepted simply because it came from a holy book, tradition or authority. A religious or philosophical idea had to withstand scrutiny, logic and debate. Winning a debate often shaped the spread of belief systems, not through force, but through the power of reasoning...

For close to eight centuries, ancient Nalanda was the intellectual heart of Buddhist scholarship in Asia. Scholars from across the Asian continent came here to study, to debate and to deepen their understanding of the Dhamma.

This school in Kanpur organised a debate on "Israel vs Palestine" topic. Now, these muslim students are crying because some students spoke in support of Israel & won the debate. 😂 Somebody should tell them, it was a debate, not a monologue. In debate, people are supposed to oppose you, not agree with you.😭

This guy gave a brilliant speech. He spoke with eloquence, conviction, and genuine passion. This video only shows part of it. As a Muslim student, he argued on the same side as Laurence, Tommy, and Jonathan during the debate and made a powerful contribution. It's a shame his speech was left out of the full version of the debate, because he completely dismantled the opposing side's arguments.

Today, we mourn the loss of Charlie Kirk, a great American. Charlie was assassinated for bravely engaging in debate and the exchange of ideas. His murder was an attack on free speech. I shared my heart from the dais and addressed this tragedy during a Clackamas County, OR meeting.

The matter of seats for refugees needs a meaningful debate and the right place to have this debate is Legislative Assembly. Sooner or later everyone will realise this unavoidable reality. The best way to achieve political rights is through political struggle, not agitation.

Can we really trust the Vedas? In this quick but powerful debate, Nitesh Gor challenges modern skepticism and defends the timeless relevance of the Vedas. Are they ancient myths or keys to a deeper truth?

As we debate the Courts Bill again today and the restriction of jury trials...a gentle reminder of this bombshell from the Minister on our last debate... The Minister admitted it wasn't about backlogs - but ideology. Listen 👇

Back 4 or Back 3 will be a debate Xabi and his staff would need to answer with this squad, but we can get idea of what behaviors to expect from defenders at the base of the structure, in and out of possession.

Folks can debate on whether or not this really was a Nazi salute. I think it was—but add the salute to the quote and decide for yourself… “The future of civilization is assured.” This is white supremacy at work and we are in danger.

My debate last night at the Oxford Union went ahead despite shabby policing and scummy protestors trying to shut it down. We debated whether or not the West should be suspicious of Islam. I am a great believer in the power of debate and discussion, especially on important topics like this one. I am against violent mobs trying to shut down debate and stop other people from speaking at or attending debates to hear varied opinions and views. This should be a default position for free Westerners.

I just saw that Mr George Galloway quoted my tweet, and it reminds me of when, as a political science undergrad at Nigeria’s premier university, I was researching the brutality of the apartheid regime in South Africa and came across his debate at the Oxford Union for the first time. In the debate, Mr Galloway spoke of a time he joined in the fight against apartheid in South Africa and asserted that he would never debate a supporter of apartheid because it is one of the worst forms of racism and fascism there are. It is a delight to see that he has remained steadfast in speaking out against apartheid, racism, and genocide, and that he has been consistent in upholding democracy, respect for international law, and the sovereignty of nations, especially those vulnerable to the whims of imperial predators. Attached is a video clip of his debate at the Oxford Union. Video credit: Oxford Union George Galloway

America’s tradition of public debate is under attack. Nothing exemplifies this better than the assassination of Charlie Kirk at a college campus event in September. In this first episode of a six-part series—“The Death of Debate”—I’m digging into what may be the most insidious symptom of this trend—the corruption of high school debate. Debate programs have long been the stepping stones for future politicians, judges, lawyers, and journalists, molding the next generation of civic leaders. So when I read James Fishback’s 2023 exposé on the NSDA—the leading high school debate association—I knew I needed to dig deeper into this issue. Over the next few weeks, I’ll uncover what I’ve discovered. Tune in next Friday for episode two of “The Death of Debate.”

Vocal critic of Christianity and the Bible, Billy Carson, didn't want his recent debate with a Christian scholar to be released. But I was able to get a copy of it. So, let's review it and talk about it and why Billy tried to have this debate wiped from the internet.
