In every state I’ve visited as Speaker, I hear the same message: secure the border. I’ve told President Biden directly that he has existing authority to help end the border catastrophe his policies created. The American people deserve nothing less.

You saying that the President has the power doesn't make it a reality Mr. Speaker. Trump tried to close the southern border under the exact measure you claim Biden could use. Trump was overturned in court because the President does NOT have the authority to shut down a border simply because a bunch of asylum seekers shows up. Biden himself enacted the Circumvention of Lawful Pathways rule after Congress didn't have a replacement for Title 42 ready. What happened? It was taken to court. The fact of the matter is that Congress needs to pass laws to fix the southern border. And you know who knows that? You, Mr. Speaker: “our immigration system is broken. Reforming that system is a job for Congress.” - you said that in February of 2023. And yet now you're lying and say the President can do it on his own. The reason is simply to stall and hold off a fix so Republicans and Trump can campaign on the border. Here are a few other Republicans: “This is a broken system that needs to be fixed. It takes congressional action; you need to change the law.” - Rep. Steve Scalise “I will continue to work tirelessly in Congress to convince my Democratic colleagues that we have a serious crisis on the border, and that they need to work with Republicans and take action now,” - Sen. Ted Cruz “Most importantly, Democrats must change our immigration laws right now,” - Donald Trump What the American people deserve is for you to stop lying, stop refusing to a fix a problem, and actually get your House in order to tackle the biggest issues facing our nation. Anything less is a disgrace and shows you are unfit to be Speaker.

President Biden requested funds to increase the number of immigration judges so those who could not claim asylum could be deported from the country. But do Republicans want to do that? No. They want what Trump tells them to want: Turn the border into a campaign issue.

Is that all you hear? Everyone is telling you the same thing? Has anyone asked you why you haven't tried? Has anyone reminded you that you create legislation? Did Trump tell you to do nothing because it helps Biden?
