The City’s Electricity Department, Building Compliance Unit, and Water and Sanitation Department identified several non-compliant properties linked to George Asaba, a Nigerian national. This afternoon, we joined the City’s By-Law Enforcement team for an operation in the streets surrounding Bosman Station in the Pretoria CBD. We moved traders who were obstructing walkways, in addition to operating without the required trading permits. Some traders were compliant. We also inspected spaza shops in the area to ensure compliance with the City’s by-laws and applicable health and safety requirements. We will continue to enforce by-laws to keep the CBD clean, safe and accessible for residents and visitors. City of Tshwane

The Johannesburg High Court was clear in its judgment: all illegal structures inside Marble Towers were to be shut down and removed, and the building brought into full compliance with safety regulations. The Court further ordered that all non-compliant structures must not be occupied or accessed by any person. Our return to Marble Towers has revealed a disturbing disregard for this court order. We found some of the very structures the Court declared unlawful still operating and being accessed. This is a serious violation of the Court’s judgment and places lives at risk. In response to persistent complaints from residents of Pipeline Estate, we have taken firm action against a notorious strip club operating in the heart of the residential area. The establishment has been a constant source of noise pollution, severely disrupting the peace and wellbeing of the surrounding community. It is unacceptable for such a business to operate in the middle of a residential estate, where families and children live. We want to assure the public that we will not allow this to continue.
