Today, together with my colleagues in the United Opposition, Martha Karua Eugene L. Wamalwa Kalonzo Musyoka and Rigathi Gachagua we visited the IEBC headquarters and held candid discussions on strengthening public confidence in the Electoral Commission. We raised concerns about the recent by- elections and agreed on creating a framework for constant, effective technical engagement with the Commission.

Today I met with the Chairman Senate Committee on Health, Senator Ipilabo, in her capacity as our oversight Senator. I shared with her my visions and we both agreed that we must work hard to ensure our Public Health Services is Good, Safe and Inviting. And that we must provoke confidence in our citizens to make use of our public health institutions. She commended the vision and plans I shared with her and expressed her hope in our leadership. “I am happy about all the plans you have and wish you the great success. I beleive you will be one of the best performing chairman in the country”. “With the kind of ideas you have started of now, maintain the momentum, and you will leave behind a great legacy”.

Conservatives put the facts on the table: • Bill C-14 wasn’t introduced until October 23 • It passed the House with Conservative support on November 18 • Conservatives brought forward 19 motions to fast-track it at committee, each was BLOCKED by Liberals This session alone, Conservatives have tabled 12 justice and public safety bills, all focused on strengthening bail, protecting victims, and keeping repeat violent offenders off our streets. Public safety must be treated as a core responsibility of government. Conservatives will continue to hold the Liberals to account — because keeping Canadians safe cannot wait.

I presented a petition today from residents in our community, calling on the government to withdraw Bill C-9, their controversial censorship proposal that targets faith communities across Canada and that may criminalize passages from the Bible and other religious texts. Today, the Liberals, with the help of the Bloc, are moving to end debate on this proposal and silence the many voices of concerned Canadians.

My final word in the Lords on the government climbdown on wrong-headed under-16s social-media ban: At least Labour was originally less gung-ho than the Tories, saying that it needed to consult first. But now, with a U-turn BEFORE and regardless of the opinions of those consulted, the government says it will ban. This seems to make a mockery of evidence-based policy, or claims that the government is listening to the public. In reply, the minister casually dismissed my concerns. Consultation, she explained, was always about the TYPE of ban. Democracy - but not as we know it!
