I travelled with public transport this evening and met a group of CPUT students. Our journey took us to all the way to District Six, and I got some insight into their world. I was impressed with their study choices such as civil engineering and accounting. Some hope to become entrepreneurs. The students shared that NSFAS was supporting their studies. Beyond fees, they are also provided with residence fees, books, food and a travel allowance. They however need laptops. They did tell me they are in dire need of laptops for their studies. The energy, passion and optimism of these young South Africans was inspiring.

Today, students were interrupted from their midterm studies for several hours by loud music and prayers outside their windows. Harvard's historic Quincy Courtyard had been turned into a bazaar selling Hijabs, Burqas and Qurans for an Eid Mubarak celebration hosted by Harvard’s Islamic Society. Large prayer mats covered the grass, speakers blasted Islamic music, and the event (open to the public) attracted dozens of unvetted strangers who roamed outside student dorms. Security intervened only once during the “celebration,” when three Harvard security officers told one of our members he was not allowed to photograph what was happening. Harvard has been captured.

Why did we collectively decide to stop living in color? 🎨 ​Looking at these side-by-side comparisons, it’s not just about the cars. It’s about a shift in the human psyche. We went from bold, expressive, and unique to a sea of "safe" resale value. We traded personality for "sleekness" and character for "minimalism." ​Now, every parking lot looks like a grayscale spreadsheet. We’ve optimized the joy out of our daily view. Are we more sophisticated now, or are we just becoming more boring? ​I miss when life had a saturated filter. Bring back the teal, the burnt orange, and the soul.

The Hidden Language of Diffusion Models paper page: tackle the challenge of understanding concept representations in text-to-image models by decomposing an input text prompt into a small set of interpretable elements. This is achieved by learning a pseudo-token that is a sparse weighted combination of tokens from the model's vocabulary, with the objective of reconstructing the images generated for the given concept. Applied over the state-of-the-art Stable Diffusion model, this decomposition reveals non-trivial and surprising structures in the representations of concepts. For example, we find that some concepts such as "a president" or "a composer" are dominated by specific instances (e.g., "Obama", "Biden") and their interpolations. Other concepts, such as "happiness" combine associated terms that can be concrete ("family", "laughter") or abstract ("friendship", "emotion"). In addition to peering into the inner workings of Stable Diffusion, our method also enables applications such as single-image decomposition to tokens, bias detection and mitigation, and semantic image manipulation

BREAKING | Hundreds of international students and supporters are demonstrating in Mississauga today. They are protesting deportation orders levelled against students that were unknowing victims of bogus acceptance letters from their immigration consultant in India. A Conservative Party motion, at the federal government's immigration committee, to temporarily suspend the deportations until claims are fully investigated was delayed by the committee in a 6-5 vote. Liberal Party and NDP MPs on the committee stopped the Conservative motion, causing even greater uproar from international students and activists alike. Full story to come.

The students slept outside making noise, calling for justice. Police were overwhelmed by the students and could not contain the protest. Parents have arrived at the school in a bid to find a solution but what is clear is that the winds of change are blowing even in schools. The big question is if young girls like these can fight for their rights, what were adults doing at bogus Rhema Festivals pretending to act as if everything is alright?

Make a lot of stuff, allow perfection to emerge, and focus on the process. - beeple A short visit to the NODE this weekend to support a fellow artist and someone who inspires me to dream bigger. From his 20 years of daily activities to his forward thinking evolving technical capabilities, he shows us what the present moment is and what the future can look like in art. I believe Mike is one of the most down to Earth and influential artists working today in art and technology. How he and his brother, Scott, push the boundaries of art, experience, participation inspires us to think and create in new dynamic ways. Not only is he pushing the boundaries of what’s possible and show us things we have never seen before, he cares deeply about other artists; His community! Mike lead millions of artists to think about NFTs in 2021 which was a huge first step for the future of preserving art. Now in 2026, with the patronage of NODE, the organization of phil, and the graciousness of Micky 🐸, it is genuinely gearing up to be a massive paradigm shift for an art movement as we live and breathe. This is it folks! We like to say that we are in the golden age, or undergoing a digital art renaissance. It’s happening right now! And you who are reading this is part of it. On X, and in person. It requires us all who give a fuck to show up and support each other and make the art that’s true to us, and collect what we connect to or that moves us. To share how we each see the world from our perspectives in making art or experiences art; sharing ideas helps us become a collective consciousness and allows us to learn and grow together. Pay attention! The sharp rise in global ocean temperature in 1997–1998 was driven by the strongest recorded El Niño in history. So what caused this? Just take a look at the jump in the speed of the Pole Shift recorded by NOAA in 1997! This is when the speed of the Pole Shift dramatically increased to 50 km per year, equivalent to the speed during the Laschamp Geomagnetic Excursion! This is what drives climate change, and today, in my opinion, the strong El Niño is occurring because there is currently another increase in the speed of the Pole Shift, and things are about to get really weird. Now the deception and gaslighting will be greater than ever, the division will increase, and the elites will pour more money into AI and their doomsday bunkers.
