@dylanwiliam @ThoughtStretchr I think many people equate direct instruction with whole class instruction. They are not synonymous.

@dylanwiliam @ThoughtStretchr This is a great clip. But it ends by agreeing that we also have to "teach the concepts the skills & the facts". This describes a content-oriented approach and sadly there aren't enough hours in a day to cover *all* desired facts if we're also using time for skill development.

The word "liability" appears 43 times in his new legislation. "Students" appears five times. "Classrooms" appears zero times. Kids are in overcrowded classrooms with no one to help them. Teachers are burning out. And this government keeps tinkering around the edges while consolidating power. Students don't need a wannabe Emperor of Education.
