White South Africans or foreigners generally aren’t competing with illegal migrants for limited public resources. Most don’t live in townships or informal settlements where the pressure on public clinics, schools and low skilled jobs is felt most. Poor black South Africans do. A police sergeant claimed a teen pointed a gun at her — then her own bodycam proved she lied. This young man was arrested, jailed, and had his life upended based on a story the evidence does not support. In the end, prosecutors dropped the charge, but only after he had already been dragged through the system and branded a threat. That is not a “misunderstanding.” That is a violation of his rights and a breach of the public trust. Body-worn cameras were introduced to bring transparency and accountability to policing. They only work when we are willing to confront what they show us, even when it exposes misconduct by those in uniform. False statements by law enforcement must be treated with the same gravity as the accusations they level against our communities. When an officer’s words can put a child in a cage, any abuse of that power has to be investigated, documented, and answered with real consequences.

Candace Owens says she’s going to file a report over a 92-person group chat. But where’s the evidence of a crime? Being added to a group chat isn’t proof of wrongdoing. Posting about a public figure isn’t proof of “obsessive derangement.” And if someone actually shared private information or engaged in criminal activity, show the evidence and take it to the proper authorities. And what about the double standard? Candace has spent months talking about the same people and issues, but suddenly when someone else talks a lot about her, it becomes evidence of obsession. And if the FBI is credible when they bring you a threat against your life, how can they suddenly become untrustworthy when their conclusions don’t fit your narrative? If there’s evidence, show it. If there isn’t, stop making accusations and calling them facts. I’m not going anywhere. I’m going to keep speaking the truth and defending people from claims that aren’t supported by evidence.

Minister Norma Foley has publicly stated that she had no knowledge of the book “What’s the T.” Yet former Fine Gael Minister Charlie Flanagan has stated that he personally spoke to her in 2023 and asked her to read it. Both accounts cannot be correct. I put that question directly to Minister Peter Burke, standing in for the Taoiseach and Tánaiste. His response was that he could not comment because he knew nothing about the matter. That is not accountability. When there are two conflicting public accounts from senior political figures, the public is entitled to a clear answer. Silence is not an answer.
