The Israel Air Force has completed relocating a helicopter squadron from Ramon Airbase in the south to Ramat David Airbase in the north, as part of efforts to better defend the northern border, and following lessons learned from the October 7, 2023, onslaught, the military says. The the 190th Squadron operates a fleet of AH-64A Apache choppers, known in the IAF as Peten (Cobra). Yesterday, a ceremony was held at Ramat David Airbase to welcome the squadron. "The transfer of the squadron to Ramat David Airbase is intended to improve the availability of the combat helicopter fleet for defending the country's borders by dispersing combat helicopter squadrons in the north and south," the military says.

The Pantsir-S1 was once considered one of the best short-range air-defense systems in the world. Now, watch one of these systems fail to shoot down an incoming Ukrainian one-way attack drone. This footage was recorded by the TV sensor mounted in the nose of what appears to be a Fire Point FP-1 one-way attack drone of the Ukrainian Unmanned Systems Forces shortly before it struck a Russian commercial ship in the Black Sea. A Pantsir-S1 can be seen attempting to intercept the incoming drone, firing three surface-to-air missiles at it. None of the three missiles hits the drone. Despite being engaged three times by the Pantsir-S1, the Ukrainian one-way attack drone continues toward its target and successfully strikes the Russian commercial ship.
