Here’s another perspective Spending on defence creates employment and creates GDP growth which in turn raises tax revenues, and so on.. Having security means having a stability which in turn attract more investment, and so on..

We’ve seen the Government is actually only prepared to spend an additional £15 billion this year to fund its Defence investment Plan and this week will announce huge cuts as a result. This insufficient commitment to defence spending saw both John Healey and Al Carns resign. Keir Starmer isn’t going to come to the House and correct the record, he’s already ‘quiet quit’, but the next time a minister uses this lie they should be dragged over the coals.
