We need to radically rewire our economy and getting taxes down is central to that mission. BUT we will only be able to achieve that if we have fiscal responsibility at the heart of everything we do. NEVER AGAIN will we sacrifice that. Labour are badly mismanaging our economy. Reform offer only fantasy economics. It falls to the Conservative Party to stand up for fiscal discipline and economic stability. The road ahead is tough but we are up for the challenge. We believe in our country and we will deliver the right choices based on serious, responsible leadership.

Yes, we are past the point of no return. When debt service payments squeeze out spending, it is like plaque in the circulatory system squeezing out the flow of blood. It is the same kind of thing, and it can be measured. We are seeing that happen right now. There is also a supply and demand issue. A budget deficit means that debt has to be sold. We can see this happening in the bond market—bonds have been a bad investment, and there is pressure on interest rates and borrowing. This dynamic is happening, but people are treating it like it hasn't happened before. They don't understand that, just like plaque in the arteries, the debt builds up and they have that exposure.

They're the only other country that has the talent, the resources, and the technology expertise to basically beat us in AI. Our mainstream culture is conflict-avoidant. There is the assumption that the less conflict there is in a relationship, the better it is. I disagree. If there is real intimacy, conflict is actually unavoidable. Because we are all different. The real indicator of health in a relationship isn’t the lack of conflict, it is the quality of our repair. It is the level of authenticity we can bring. That requires knowing how to be with conflict and disagreement, how to hold nuance. And it also requires practicing the art of repairing. Are we willing to show up and repair what we broke? Do we have the skills and capacity required for that? Avoiding conflict means avoiding truth and therefore avoiding real intimacy. This work is essential and transcends the personal. If we aren't capable of dealing with conflict in our own personal lives, it is no wonder that the world is in the state it is, where the most prevalent conflict management strategy is escalation.
