An incredible view of firing Ops on the Iron Fire in Utah. Crews continue to build containment and completed a burn the western flank yesterday, but fire weather and winds continue to be problematic. Fire managers and crews continue to asses direct and indirect options moving forward. Additional firing ops took place last night on the eastern flanks, working to tie it in just north of Highway 6. Extreme fire weather is expected in the coming days, and contingency plans are also being worked on in case it jumps the highway. The fire is now 37,170 acres and 17% contained. The Cottonwood Fire has been updated to 61,137 acres, and resources continue to work towards containment, and are busy constructing firelines. Fire weather this weekend will be an issue for a lot of fires this weekend. 📷 Jefe Lobo

Wildfires in Texas kept firefighters busy the last few days as fire weather conditions linger over the region. This is the Lavender Fire in Potter county, burning 18,300+ acres, but firefighters have been able to bring it to 40% contained. The 8 Ball Fire in Armstrong and Donley counties burned 13,500+ acres and is now 55% contained. Firefighters continue to work wildfires in Oklahoma, The Ranger Road being the largest at 283,000+ acres and 15% contained. The Steven’s Fire outside Hooker, Oklahoma is 13,000 acres and 60% contained, and the Poor Farm Fire outside Hartshorne, OK, is 9,000 acres and 25% contained. Montana: A great view of Bridger Aerospace scoopers working the Bivens Creek Fire in Madison county, MT. A lot of progress is being made, the Fire is now 34% contained and sitting at 2,234 acres after crews have completed primary lines around the fire. Next door, the Cloudrest Fire is 2,629 acres and 12% contained as crews conduct defensive firing operations ahead of expected heavy rains. A cooling and wetting trend is expected the next few days across Montana before a warmer drier trend returns. Thanks to Bridger Aerospace for sharing!

The Governor of Arizona toured the Dragon Bravo Fire this weekend to asses the damage of the Grand Canyon Park’s North Rim infrastructure. There are now 848 personnel assigned to the fire which has grown to 12,645 acres. Crews continue to mitigate spot fires that crossed the Grand Canyon Highway and mitigate hazards around park structures that were destroyed. You can see in this video the extent of the damage to the Grand Canyon lodge, a National designated landmark. Heavy equipment and firefighters are also building contingency lines to add robust containment lines around the fire. Thanks to the subscriber who shared this view of Fire activity at night, and the aftermath of the Lodge.

Incredible footage of a fire whirl on the Warner Peak Fire in Oregon, captured by the UAS module working on the fire. #wildfire #orfire #orex The drone’s IR camera captured the event, and you can see the rate of spread increase drastically as the whirl develops. Florida is experiencing significant drought, which has helped fuel multiple fires over the last few weeks.
