Please make a 4-6w panel with an integrated enclosure that is ip67, has a decent charge controller, 18650 batteries, and a nrf based Lora radio. Make it out of polycarbonate so it won’t melt in the sun like some others out there.

The problem with this setup is that sometimes condensation builds up inside. But maybe silica gel packs are enough to avoid issues for quite some time.

It is high time Greater Chennai Corporation powers its street lights with solar energy, especially during such emergency blackouts, cyclones and other natural disasters. GCC maintains around 3.01 lakh street lights in the city now. Engineers say that there are street lights with individual panels on which light energy is converted to electricity to power the lights. This will also reduce electricity bills in the long run. It can be alternated with the usual power supply too. What do you all think? #Solar #Chennai TANGEDCO Official

That's half of the average power usage in the U.S. China can provide steady state power, and batteries can do half of the U.S. electricity output per year just for solar. This BBC interview featured a package in which they said farmers were selling up to make way for solar projects - this is generally not the case. Less than 1% of land in Lincolnshire is being used for solar farms and even in cases in which it is, landowners are leasing their land to make profit for solar farms - which btw is also in the national interest in terms of energy security (and the climate). The media has a lot to answer for when it comes to public trust…
