It is high time Greater Chennai Corporation powers its street lights with solar energy, especially during such emergency blackouts, cyclones and other natural disasters. GCC maintains around 3.01 lakh street lights in the city now. Engineers say that there are street lights with individual panels on which light energy is converted to electricity to power the lights. The media has a lot to answer for when it comes to public trust…
