Operation Amistad - Responding to the devastating earthquake that struck northern Venezuela, the two Indian Airforce C17s transited through Abidjan enroute to Venezuela carrying 35 T of relief equipment, an Indian Army Field Hospital contingent and two BHISHM cubes. The contingent comprises 41 personnel, including nine medical officers, and is equipped to provide emergency medical care, trauma management, life-saving surgical support and other essential healthcare services to those affected by the earthquake. The team is carrying approximately six tonnes of medical stores and humanitarian relief supplies provided by the Ministry of External Affairs. In addition, one of the two aircraft is transporting a BHISHM Cube (Bharat Health Initiative for Sahyog, Hita & Maitri) under India’s Aarogya Maitri Project. The BHISHM Cube is a state-of-the-art, indigenous, rapidly deployable modular medical facility designed specifically for disaster and humanitarian response. Comprising compact, self-contained medical modules, it can be quickly assembled into a fully functional field hospital capable of delivering advanced trauma care, emergency surgeries, intensive care support and essential medical treatment for up to 200 patients. Equipped with portable ventilators, patient monitors, diagnostic equipment, surgical instruments, power generation and oxygen support systems, the BHISHM Cube significantly enhances India’s capability to provide swift and effective medical assistance during humanitarian crises anywhere in the world. The dispatch of the medical contingent under Operation Amistad reflects India’s enduring commitment to humanitarian assistance and disaster relief and its readiness to extend timely support to friendly nations in times of crisis. INDIAN ARMY RESTORES VITAL ROAD CONNECTIVITY IN RAMBAN WITH LAUNCH OF 150-FOOT REINFORCED MAITRA BRIDGE Due to recent incessant rainfall in Ramban district, a vital stretch of the Karol–Maitra Road, an important artery connecting Ramban district with mainland was washed away. This road is critical for linking government establishments and villages and its loss disrupted daily life, stranding locals and vehicles. The District Administration requested assistance from the Indian Army for urgent restoration of connectivity. The washed-away site was located nearly 20 metres above the Chenab River under unstable cliffs. Accordingly, a team from the White Knight Engineers was deployed and they executed the launch of a 150-Foot Triple Panel Double Storey Extra Wide Reinforced Bailey Bridge, designed to ensure heavy traffic bearing capacity. BRO, NHAI, District Administration & Police Department Ramban and other civilian agencies assisted in early execution of task. In addition to it, the Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief operations under the project #HumAapkeSaathHain continued in the region covering Kishtwar, Doda, Ramban, Udhampur, Reasi, Akhnoor, Rajouri and Poonch districts, providing timely relief to people affected by torrid rains, landslides and flash floods. More than 5000 people were provided relief and number of Medical Camps were organised at remote villages to provide necessary medical aid. These sustained efforts including construction of the bridge provided timely medical, veterinary and food supply across remote locations, which showcased that Indian Army stands shoulder to shoulder with the people it serves. Each bridge rebuilt, each camp conducted, each family helped, strengthened the bond of faith and confidence between the Armed Forces and local communities.
