INDIAN ARMY CONTINUES FLOOD RELIEF AND RESCUE OPERATIONS ACROSS GUJARAT AND DADRA & NAGAR HAVELI Ahmedabad, 25 July 2026 Responding swiftly to the flood situation arising from incessant rainfall across parts of Gujarat and the Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli, the Indian Army, under the aegis of Southern Command, commenced Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations on the evening of 23 July 2026. Relief and rescue operations are continuing in close coordination with the NDRF, SDRF, civil administration and other agencies to assist the affected population. The Army has deployed seven Relief and Rescue Columns, including Engineer and Medical teams, across the affected areas. At present, two columns are deployed in Navsari, one in the Valsad–Vapi region, three in Ahmedabad, covering Ahmedabad Town, Ahmedabad Rural and the Ahmedabad–Rajkot Highway, and one column is operating in Silvassa in the Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli. In addition, addl Relief and Rescue Columns remain on standby at key locations, including Vadodara, Ahmedabad and Jamnagar to facilitate immediate response to any emerging contingency. Since the commencement of operations, Army teams have undertaken continuous rescue and relief missions in inundated and inaccessible areas, safely evacuating 355 stranded civilians so far. Rescue operations have often been carried out under challenging conditions, including the evacuation of civilians trapped for prolonged durations in flooded buildings and isolated habitations. Medical teams have provided immediate healthcare to those requiring assistance, while relief teams have distributed food, drinking water and other essential supplies to affected residents awaiting evacuation or restoration of normal connectivity. The operations are being executed in seamless coordination with the civil administration, National and State Disaster Response Forces, Police and other stakeholders to ensure timely rescue, relief and humanitarian assistance across the affected districts.

#WATCH | Bengaluru, Karnataka: On gang rape and dacoity in Gangagondanahalli, Rural SP, C K Baba says, "... Last night, between around 9:15 PM and 12:30 AM, a serious incident was reported at the Madanayakanahalli Police Station involving a private residence comprising three adjacent houses. The second and third houses were targeted, where gang rape and robbery had happened. Senior officers arrived at the scene. A case has been registered under multiple sections of the law, including Sections 70(1), 127(2), 118(1), 11, 324(3), and 190 of the BNS, reflecting the severity of the offences. The case involves the sexual assault; the perpetrators also stole two mobile phones and ₹25,000 in cash. A DSP rank officer is leading the investigation, and three special teams have been formed to apprehend the accused. Out of five, three accused have been taken into custody, while efforts continue to locate and arrest the remaining two. The victims are residents of West Bengal, whereas the accused are locals. The victim is currently receiving medical treatment in the hospital, and police are adhering to standard operating procedures throughout the investigation..."

INDIAN ARMY LAUNCHES OPERATION SHIVA 2025 TO SECURE SHRI AMARNATH JI YATRA The Indian Army has launched *Operation SHIVA 2025* in close coordination with the Civil Administration and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. This annual high-tempo operation aims to provide a robust security architecture along both the Northern and Southern Yatra routes, particularly in light of the heightened threat from Pakistan-backed proxies in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor. As part of this year’s enhanced security framework, over *8,500 troops* have been deployed, supported by a wide array of technological and operational resources. A *dynamic counter-terrorism grid, prophylactic security deployment*, and *corridor protection* measures have been instituted. Comprehensive *assistance to civil authorities* is also being provided, particularly in disaster management and emergency response. Key deployments and tasks include: •*Counter-UAS grid* with more than *50 C-UAS and EW systems* each to neutralise drone threats •.*Regular UAV missions* and *live monitoring* of Yatra routes and the Holy Cave. •*Engineer task forces* for bridge construction, track widening, and disaster mitigation. •*More than 150 doctors and medical personnel*, with two Advance Dressing Stations, nine Medical Aid Posts, a 100-bed hospital, and 26 oxygen booths supported by 2,00,000 litres of oxygen. •*Signal companies* for seamless communication, *EME detachments* for technical support, and *Bomb Detection & Disposal Squads*. •*Emergency rations for 25,000 persons, QRTs, tent cities, water points*, and *plant equipment* including bulldozers and excavators. •*Indian Army helicopters* remain on standby for any contingency response. The Indian Army is harnessing advanced technology to ensure a robust security framework during the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. By implementing live tracking of Yatra convoys between Jammu and the Holy Cave, the Army is maintaining constant situational awareness through high-resolution PTZ camera and drone feeds. Real-time updates on convoy movement are being monitored to pre-empt any threats, while seamless multi-agency coordination ensures swift response and effective security management across the entire route.
