Economic growth without meaningful employment fosters inequality and undermines development. Presently, only a few close wealthy friends of the government are benefiting from India’s economic growth, leaving common Indians grappling with unemployment and price rise. A democratic ‘PRODUCTION ECONOMY’ model ensures not just growth, but also high-quality jobs and dignity of labour, laying the foundation for sustainable economic development. Mere growth metrics won't propel India to superpower status; addressing poverty and unemployment requires empowering every Indian with a tangible stake in our nation’s development trajectory. For India's 140+ crore citizens, economic JUSTICE means equal opportunity and participation in India’s democratic production growth story.

🔹Today, India’s foreign exchange reserves exceed 700 billion dollars, and our banking system stands among the strongest in the world. This strength is reflected in the upgrades to India’s sovereign ratings 🔹India’s confidence is soaring to unprecedented heights. We are advancing reforms with a clear vision and a well-defined policy direction. Through #GST, we have transformed a complex web of taxes into a unified national market 🔹We have introduced an insolvency law and consolidated 29 labour laws into four simplified labour codes. We have also liberalised hundreds of minor business-related provisions, making it easier to do business - Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Bloomberg New Economy Forum

The City of Tshwane supports the growth of businesses, but we take strong exception when businesses don’t prioritise South Africans. We are conducting an extensive check on business compliance today in Centurion. Tshwane teams are checking for compliance with municipal by-laws. While the Department of Home Affairs is checking for compliance with immigration law, and the Department of Employment and Labour is reviewing adherence with labour laws. City of Tshwane

🇨🇦 youth unemployment rate just jumped to 14.3%. And even economists admit they have no clear evidence AI is replacing jobs yet. In fact, they say the weakness started BEFORE the AI boom and is hitting retail, food service, and entry level work hardest. Maybe the bigger story is this: 🔹 Weak economy 🔹 Hiring freezes 🔹 Wage suppression 🔹 Offshoring 🔹 Experienced workers competing for entry level jobs 🔹 Massive labour supply growth overwhelming demand A teenager applying for their first job today isn’t just competing with other teenagers anymore. They’re competing with adults who already have years of experience and are desperate for lower paying work. That’s the real warning sign.

Security matters more than ever. I spent time with Pam Cox MP discussing what Labour has done for the armed forces and defence, including strengthening military readiness. But just as important is our long term investment in economic security to help drive down energy prices and the cost of the weekly shop. Together we’ll build a stronger and more resilient Britain.
