He doesn't see that he has any soft spots. But his big soft spot is Ukraine. He's developed this in the last 15 years, he hasn't always thought this, but his big soft spot is his notion that Russia has this history that lasted for 1,000 years, which is totally absurd. That in that history Russia and Ukraine have always been together, and that Ukraine therefore has never really existed as any kind of autonomous thing.
