The pieces are beginning to come together: About two weeks ago, I told you we had begun working on finding our people who are being held in Nigerian prisons without being charged to court. A prison sentence should never become a sentence to invisibility. Across Nigeria, there are men and women who have never been tried. Some have been granted bail. Some have court judgments in their favour. Yet they remain behind prison walls. Many have lost contact with their families, not because they have forgotten them, but because they have no way of reaching them. Many families and friends are looking for their loved ones without knowing they are held in these prisons. Released inmates often leave prison carrying messages for others, but without the means to travel across states or locate families whose phone numbers have changed or whose homes have been abandoned. This is why I am building a space on where forgotten voices can be heard again, families can reconnect, and hope can find its way home. Justice is not only about who enters prison. It is also about ensuring no human being is forgotten behind its walls. I also want to appeal to every former prisoner: if you were unable to deliver someone's message, please find a way to send word back into the prison. Let that inmate know. Ask if there is another relative, friend or contact who can be reached instead. Don't let hope end because one door remained closed. A conscious society does not forget people behind prison walls or allow people to disappear into silence. Justice is not only about imprisonment, it is also about preserving our shared humanity. Here Theo Von claims that America is owned by Israel or some other foreign entity. I'm really disturbed by how many people Citizen Vigilante is resonating with. This should be a WARNING for all of us. The movie portrays real societal concerns that we SHOULD worry about. But this guy isn't Batman or your classic Western hero who just wants to put the gun away and go home. He wants the fame. He declares himself completely above the law, absolutely satisfied that people are watching his rampage with satisfaction. I'm not sure if the director was glorifying this or trying to warn us, but the audience takeaway is incredibly dangerous. If governments keep turning a blind eye to chaos, the "Bubba Effect" is going to take over, but you won't like the tyrant who shows up to fill the void. Also, as a side note, the movie is just a flat-out mess. He practically signs his name at every crime scene, leaving his guns behind and touching every single doorknob in sight. His fingerprints are EVERYWHERE. In America, the cops would have had this guy behind bars ten minutes into the film.
