Pretty much. In social gatherings in place of small talk I usually try to be witty/humorous without being offensive or sarcastic. The challenge keeps me engaged through the dullness of bland conversation.

I call it being 'awake'. I liken it to being in a different dimension when you know the truth. Severed. Apart from where you once were. Where situations and people who used to give you pleasure are now boring, monotonous; like empty vessels.
