Democrat former Houston Mayoral appointee condemned on TikTok for complaining that the girls attending Camp Mystic, where 27 lost their lives in the flooding, were all WHITE. In a now deleted video, Sade Perkins who previously worked as a food insecurity board member for the Houston Mayor, accused the camp of racism saying they didn’t have a “token” Asian or black girl. 27 died after being swept away in the floods at the camp, with many of them being young girls. “I know I’m going to get cancelled for this, but Camp Mystic is a white-only girls’ Christian camp. If you're looking for a weekend project, how about training your own text-to-speech model from scratch on your own GPU, and then running it on any device's CPU? We just open-sourced the entire Pocket TTS training stack: data pipeline, recipes, and evals. It learns pretty damn fast: ~15k steps: babbling starts turning into words ~50k steps: it reads anything you type (WER under 1%) ~200k steps: the voice stops sounding synthetic On a beefy consumer GPU, that's a week of training. On eight H100s: 10-20 hours. A TTS training run will cost you less than $200 if you rent your hardware, and an order of magnitude less if you just pay for power. Some things we'd love to see people try: - Train it in your own language (a few hundred hours of speech gets you surprisingly far). - Add new features to Pocket TTS (Emotion tags? Make it sing?). - Beat us at our own game: make it faster and smaller. Show us what you build! We'll highlight the best models and new languages for the whole community to enjoy. Pocket TTS has already found many use cases, from reading for people with visual impairments to making NPCs in video games talk, and we're sure there's much more to do with it! Not all rescues are fake. Not all Nepalese lack integrity. Recent news about fake rescues in Nepal is very sad. It has given a bad name to our country’s reputation and hurt our economy. Those responsible must be punished. But please know — not all of us are like that. I have never, ever done a fake rescue. Not once. To this day. I have personally conducted more than a dozen real rescues — 95% of them for other outfitters. I have never charged a single penny for any rescue I have carried out. After Jim Morrison’s wife passed away on Manaslu, we stepped in to help her family. Other helicopter companies were planning to raise prices. I warned them. We made sure everything was done at the lowest cost possible. Elite Exped charged nothing for all the manpower and service provided. Zero. Then the rescue of Mr. Chin on Annapurna — no fee. Captain Dipendra from 8,700m on Everest’s South Summit- no fees , Kuntal: the list goes on. Not a single penny charged from my side . I have convinced many of our clients to walk down from high camps — even when tired, out of gas, or wanting a helicopter. I encouraged them to walk back to Base Camp. Because I believe: a summit is from Base Camp to the top and back down to Base Camp. That’s it. If you run a marathon and jump in a vehicle, you haven’t finished. Same on a mountain. That’s why I recorded this video — convincing my clients to walk down. I had many opportunities to make money. But money means nothing when it comes to my integrity and humanity. Not all rescues are fake. Not all Nepalese lack integrity. Recent news about fake rescues in Nepal is very sad. It has given a bad name to our country’s reputation and hurt our economy. Those responsible must be punished. But please know — not all of us are like that. I have never, ever done a fake rescue. Not once. To this day. I have personally conducted more than a dozen real rescues — 95% of them for other outfitters. I have never charged a single penny for any rescue I have carried out. After Jim Morrison’s wife passed away on Manaslu, we stepped in to help her family. Other helicopter companies were planning to raise prices. I warned them. We made sure everything was done at the lowest cost possible. Elite Exped charged nothing for all the manpower and service provided. Zero. Then the rescue of Mr. Chin on Annapurna — no fee. Captain Dipendra from 8,700m on Everest’s South Summit- no fees , Kuntal: the list goes on. Not a single penny charged from my side . I have convinced many of our clients to walk down from high camps — even when tired, out of gas, or wanting a helicopter. I encouraged them to walk back to Base Camp. Because I believe: a summit is from Base Camp to the top and back down to Base Camp. That’s it. If you run a marathon and jump in a vehicle, you haven’t finished. Same on a mountain. That’s why I recorded this video — convincing my clients to walk down. I had many opportunities to make money. But money means nothing when it comes to my integrity and humanity. When people say success is lonely at the top… I get it now. There just aren’t that many people up there. And it's not really bc they aren’t smart enough. The reason is bc there aren’t many people willing to think differently for years while everyone else tells them they’re wrong. There aren’t many people with the discipline to keep going when nobody is clapping for them. There aren’t many people willing to take real risks, bet on themselves, live below their means, invest aggressively, build businesses, and delay comfort for a future nobody else can see yet. That’s basically been my whole Teslaconomics journey. Betting everything I had on Elon and Tesla when people laughed at me. Betting everything else I had on SpaceX before most people could even own it. Building Teslaconomics from nothing, people telling me I was wasting my time. Walking away from the normal corporate path at Apple. Putting my $, time, reputation, and conviction on the line behind things I actually believe in. And the higher you climb, the harder it becomes to find people who think the same way. Most people just want the quick results. Very few want the years of uncertainty, discipline, obsession, sacrifice, and risk that come before it. That’s why success can feel lonely. Your circle gets smaller bc your mindset changes. The conversations change. The things that excite you change. You stop wanting to talk about what everyone else is doing and start thinking about what the world could look like 5, 10, or 20 years from now and how you can be best positioned for it. For me, that means Tesla, autonomy, robots, AI, SpaceX, building businesses, investing, and trying to create a life where my time actually belongs to me. I used to hear “it’s lonely at the top” and think it sounded cliché. Now I understand exactly what they meant. There simply aren’t that many people willing to climb that far.

Every decision, every initiative ultimately comes down to whether it makes life a little easier for someone who needs help. Sebaashray was built with that clarity, and at the Diamond Harbour SDO Ground, that purpose was visible in the simplest, most meaningful ways.
