Every Sebaashray camp reminds me why public service must stay rooted in reality. Every decision, every initiative ultimately comes down to whether it makes life a little easier for someone who needs help. Sebaashray was built with that clarity, and at the Diamond Harbour SDO Ground, that purpose was... visible in the simplest, most meaningful ways. I spent time with people who came seeking care, listened to their concerns, and reassured them that their health will never be treated as an afterthought. For those in need, wheelchairs were provided so that dignity and movement were not denied alongside treatment. Sebaashray is not about one camp or one visit, it is about building a sense of certainty that support will be there when it is needed most. What truly stayed with me was the affection people expressed in their own ways. The smiles, the waves, the warmth from those who simply wanted to be seen, touched me deeply. That love is not something I take lightly. It strengthens my resolve to serve with honesty, consistency, and care.show more

Sebaashray was never designed to be an electoral gimmick. It is anchored in a principle far removed from political arithmetic, in the sincere belief that healthcare is a right, not a privilege, and that every resident of Diamond Harbour deserves medical support that is accessible, affordable, and equitable. Thirty days into Sebaashray-2, now in Satgachia on its second day, the initiative has once again demonstrated that public service earns trust through persistence. I feel privileged that people have entrusted us with something as invaluable as their health. Sebaashray has redefined the standards of last-mile healthcare delivery. It has proven that care must reach the doorstep to be meaningful. We will not let that standard slip. We will defend it, sustain it, and strengthen it.

Public service, to me, has always meant fairness, empathy, and being present for people without prejudice or distinction. Guided by this belief, Sebaashray continues to serve the residents of Diamond Harbour with a singular focus on accessible healthcare and human dignity. Today, I visited the Sebaashray-2 health camp at the Harindanga BDO Office ground in Falta, where I interacted with patients, listened carefully to their concerns, and tried to understand their challenges at a personal level. I reassured them of my continued support and of our commitment to ensuring that healthcare reaches those who need it the most. I am grateful to every doctor, health worker, volunteer, and official who has come together in this collective effort. The warmth, trust, and affection shown by the people of Falta today have truly moved me and strengthened my resolve to walk alongside them, every step of the way.

More than a programme, Sebaashray-2 is a statement of principle about how care should be delivered and how it should never be denied. It rejects the comfort of postponement, because in healthcare, delay is injustice to those who cannot afford to wait. It rejects the impulse to judge illness, recognising that suffering is a human condition to be met with care and respect. It rejects leaving treatment to uncertainty, fortune, or the overstretched resilience of families who already shoulder profound emotional and financial burdens. And most importantly, it rejects the notion that vulnerability must bargain for dignity, or that a person in pain must plead, demonstrate, or validate their despair to receive compassion. Now, as Sebaashray-2 enters its 32nd day in Satghachia, its greatest message is consistency; service that does not appear and disappear, but service that stays. This is resolve. This is presence. This is trust built through continuity. #Sebaashray2 continues, rooted in people, purpose, and responsibility.

A small act of kindness can travel a long way in transforming lives. When the people of Nandigram reached out to me to organise Sebaashray health camps, I resolved on the very first day to act. On 15th January, I personally visited Nandigram and launched this initiative, and what followed has been a deeply life-affirming journey. True public service is that which transcends barriers, sets aside political calculations, and devotes itself wholly to those in need. That is the true strength of Sebaashray. It has restored hope and dignity to people who had long felt neglected and unheard. Here, their voices were acknowledged, their concerns addressed, and their needs met with compassion and care. The love and blessings showered by the people of Nandigram will remain inscribed in my heart in golden letters. I salute every doctor, nurse, healthcare worker, and volunteer who selflessly shouldered this responsibility and took quality healthcare to people’s doorsteps. As long as the people of Nandigram remain in need, Sebaashray will return to serve them. That is my promise.

The guiding principle behind Sebaashray has been unambiguous: care must be timely, humane, and accessible to all, without exception. Healthcare cannot be a privilege determined by distance, delay, or circumstance, it must reach people when they need it most. What we witnessed at Budge Budge on Day 18 of #Sebaashray2 was the outcome of a system consciously designed to recognise urgency early and respond without hesitation. Sebaashray is built to act before vulnerability turns into crisis, and before delay compounds suffering. Day after day, Sebaashray is demonstrating that governance need not be reactive, it can be anticipatory, responsive, and reliable. Its strength lies not in a single moment of care, but in the consistency with which that care is delivered, across communities and circumstances. When people know that help will arrive, not as charity, but as a right, it restores more than health. It restores confidence in institutions, and dignity in public service. That certainty is the real measure of Sebaashray’s impact, and it is the standard we remain committed to uphold.

My approach to Sebaashray has always been rooted in the belief that public service is not a matter of convenience, and responsibility cannot be set aside. On Day 37, that conviction guided the work on the ground, reflecting a shared understanding that service is a duty, and it must be carried out with sincerity and care. In Falta, and in every place Sebaashray reaches, the commitment remains the same. To serve everyone without any exclusion. This is what continues to guide us forward, day after day, place after place with consistency, focus, and accountability.

The people of Nandigram placed their trust in me, and it is my responsibility to honour that trust through action. Sebaashray was organised to ensure that their healthcare concerns were addressed with urgency and dignity. From a routine check-up at the Sebaashray camp to specialised care beyond it, Aarti Bera’s journey reflects what this initiative truly stands for. Identified at the Nandigram Block 2 camp as requiring advanced treatment, she was carefully referred and has now successfully undergone laser surgery for her eyes, completely free of cost. From the camps in Nandigram Block 1 and Block 2, several others who needed further eye care were supported every step of the way. Six residents from Block 1 and eight from Block 2 have since completed cataract surgeries at Kalyani Eye Care, without bearing any financial burden. When I see citizens regain their vision and return to their daily lives with confidence, it reminds me why we continue this work.

For families standing at the edge of uncertainty, timely healthcare is not merely relief, it is survival. Today, 13 residents from Maheshtala were able to regain their sight through cataract surgeries at Renuka Eye Hospital, an endeavour made possible by #Sebaashray2. Sebaashray is not simply an initiative; it is a commitment. A commitment that illness will not be ignored, that suffering will not be left unattended, that quality healthcare is neither privilege nor favour, but a right owed to every citizen. And in every life that regains sight, in every family that is reassured of its place in the care of the state, we witness the profound truth that leadership is not measured by proclamations or power, but by the tangible compassion extended to those who rely upon it, by the promises kept when hope itself seems fragile, and by the unyielding conviction that service is the truest measure of governance and the highest calling of those entrusted with the public trust.

#Sebaashray may have reached its formal conclusion on 20th March, but our resolve to stand by the people remains steadfast. In Diamond Harbour, help will always be given to those who ask for it. Honouring this commitment, today, seven individuals diagnosed with cataract-related issues at the Maheshtala Sebaashray health camp underwent free cataract surgeries at Renuka Eye Institute, restoring not just their sight, but their faith in a system that prioritises people over profit. Every life we touch strengthens our resolve. Our journey continues, not in grand gestures, but in quiet service to the people.

#Sebaashray2 does more than deliver treatment; it restores trust. It tells every family, “You will not be left alone when illness strikes.” That promise takes shape in the lives of 22 residents from Metiaburuz, who have undergone cataract surgeries at Renuka Eye Hospital, free of cost, with dignity, and with care that does not discriminate between the powerful and the powerless. As these 22 individuals return home with renewed sight, they carry with them more than medical relief. They carry reassurance that governance can be humane, that institutions can care, and that when the state chooses to serve, lives are transformed in the most meaningful ways. That is the responsibility we owe our people. And that is the promise Sebaashray 2 will continue to keep.

There are some feelings you don’t need words for. When you see relief on a mother’s face, when you see parents finally breathe easy because their children are well again, you understand everything in that moment. In Nandigram, a family’s young daughter, who has been battling thalassemia, fell seriously ill. She was brought to the Sebaashray camp, referred for treatment, and taken to NRS Hospital, where she received the care she needed through a system built to respond quickly and responsibly. Today, she is healthy again. Seeing her smile, and seeing the calm return to her parents’ faces, was deeply moving. For families, illness is not just about medicine. It is about fear, waiting, uncertainty, and the worry that no parent ever wants to carry. Sebaashray exists to ensure that in those moments, help is available without hesitation, without cost, and without dignity being compromised. My only prayer is that this young girl’s life be filled with health, happiness, and strength, and that every family who needs support finds it when they need it most.

Day 3 of #Sebaashray, and the numbers speak for themselves! Across 41 health camps in Diamond Harbour Assembly Constituency, 11,388 people received free, high-quality healthcare today. Out of these, 7,053 underwent diagnostic tests, 6,537 received essential medications, and 253 were referred to specialty hospitals for advanced care. What makes SEBAASHRAY special is not just its scale but its SOUL. This isn’t about ticking boxes; it’s about ensuring that healthcare reaches those who need it most, right at their doorstep. Sebaashray is proof that MEANINGFUL CHANGE begins at the GRASSROOTS. Diamond Harbour, your faith and enthusiasm fuel this mission every day. Together, we’re setting a precedent for what PEOPLE-FIRST GOVERNANCE truly means.

"There are far better things ahead than any we leave behind.” — C.S. Lewis As this chapter of Sebaashray comes to an end, those words feel especially true. Across Diamond Harbour, the camps moved forward as one coordinated effort, guided by a simple responsibility, to ensure that people could access healthcare without confusion, without pressure, and without being made to feel small. From consultations and diagnostics to medicines and referrals, the work remained focused on continuity, so that once someone stepped in for care, they were not left to fend for themselves. Yesterday in Metiaburuz, I spent time with families who came carrying worries they had lived with for far too long. I listened to their concerns, met the doctors and teams on the ground, and saw first-hand how much reassurance timely, respectful care can bring. What stood out was the dignity with which people were able to seek help, without fear of cost, delay, or uncertainty. The trust and affection shown by the people throughout these days have been deeply humbling. But this moment is not a full stop. It is a reminder of what responsible governance must continue to look like. Sebaashray may pause here, but the commitment it represents will carry forward, in every space where care is needed and dignity must be protected. As long as people place their faith in us, our responsibility to stand beside them does not end, it only deepens.

I consider it a profound privilege that the people of Diamond Harbour have entrusted Sebaashray with something as precious as their health. The first edition set new benchmarks in last-mile healthcare delivery, and Sebaashray 2 has carried that legacy forward with remarkable success. As we conclude the normal camps, I am filled with deep gratitude and fulfilment, having witnessed the overwhelming warmth, trust, and participation of our people. I salute every doctor, nurse, pharmacist, diagnostician, and volunteer whose dedication made this initiative possible. From 24th to 28th January, Mega Camps will be held simultaneously across all seven Assembly Constituencies of Diamond Harbour to further expand access and ensure continuity of care. I remain, always, a humble servant of the people who have blessed me with their trust and affection, and in every endeavour, their welfare will remain my foremost priority.

Serving people is not just a principle, it is the highest responsibility one can carry. The faith shown by the people of Diamond Harbour is deeply humbling, and I regard that trust as a sacred duty that must be honoured through action, not words. As long as our Gonodebota continue to stand by me with their love and confidence, my resolve to protect their health, dignity, and future will remain unwavering. This commitment is not conditional, not temporary, and not symbolic. It is total, enduring, and driven by the belief that public service must always put people first.

At Sebaashray 2, the impact of coordinated and timely healthcare was visible in every interaction. Families arrived, anxious and unsure, and left with clarity, care, and guidance. Children were examined, medicines distributed, and those needing specialized treatment were directed promptly. More than a clinic, Sebaashray 2 acts a support system that ensures no one has to face illness without help. Every patient, every consultation, every referral reflects our commitment to standing with the people we serve, making sure care is accessible, effective, and compassionate.

“The simplest acts of kindness are by far more powerful than a thousand heads bowing in prayer.” Day after day, #Sebaashray2 proves that kindness is not a ritual, not a performance, not a staged promise, it is a force that walks straight into the lives of the people. You can hear it in the steady hum of service that refuses to pause, even for a moment. Sebaashray is not just an initiative, it is a reminder that governance can have a heartbeat. That care can be limitless. That compassion can be organised, disciplined, and unshakeable. Wherever it reaches, it leaves behind a simple truth: dignity is not charity, and service is not sympathy. It is responsibility. It is duty. And it is the moral compass that guides this mission every single day. In each lane, under every tent, across every queue, Sebaashray embodies what true public service must look like: quiet, constant, and deeply human.

“All other pleasures and possessions pale into nothingness before service which is rendered in a spirit of joy.” This idea of service is not abstract to me. It is visible on the ground, in places like Budge Budge, where #Sebaashray2 continues to function not as an obligation, but as a shared commitment carried with care and purpose. On Day 17, what stood out was not scale or spectacle, but the quiet confidence with which healthcare was delivered. Doctors, volunteers, and staff worked with an ease that comes only when service is internalised not imposed. That is the joy Mahatma Gandhi spoke of: ‘service performed with sincerity, not compulsion’. Sebaashray 2 reminds me every day that when service is rooted in care and responsibility, it leaves behind something lasting: trust, reassurance, and lives strengthened through care.

One of the most moving outcomes of Sebaashray for me has been witnessing senior citizens reclaim comfort, confidence, and dignity in their daily lives. Though the camps have concluded, their impact endures. From the Maheshtala Sebaashray 2 camps alone, seven elderly residents were referred and received complete dental treatment entirely free of cost. Moments like these stay with you. They reaffirm a simple but powerful truth that care must never become a privilege of youth or wealth, and dignity must accompany every individual at every stage of life. When support arrives without conditions or hesitation, it restores not just health, but trust, self-belief, and hope. And that is a responsibility I remain committed to carrying forward.

Nothing weighs heavier on my conscience than watching people endure suffering in silence, and nothing restores my faith more than seeing that suffering recede when care finally reaches them. It is this promise of relief and dignity that Sebaashray 2 seeks to sustain. On Day 27 of Sebaashray 2 in Bishnupur, I personally inspected every aspect of the health camp, ensuring that services were accessible, facilities responsive, and dignity upheld at every step. From the elderly seeking reassurance, to young adults navigating uncertainty, to children arriving with quiet curiosity, each interaction was a reminder that healthcare is not merely a service, but a lifeline. Listening to them reaffirmed my belief that policy must always be shaped by lived realities.
