This evening, Israeli residents set fire twice to the perimeter of the UNRWA Headquarters in occupied East Jerusalem. This took place while UNRWA and other UN Agencies’ staff were on the compound. While there were no casualties among our staff, the fire caused extensive damage to the outdoor areas. The UNRWA headquarters has on its grounds a petrol and diesel station for the Agency’s fleet of cars. Our director with the help of other staff had to put out the fire themselves as it took the Israeli fire extinguishers and police a while before they turned up. A crowd accompanied by armed men were witnessed outside the compound chanting “Burn down the United Nations” (see video below 👇 from Israeli media). This is an outrageous development. Once again, the lives of UN staff were at a serious risk. In light of this second appalling incident in less than a week, I have taken the decision to close down our coumpound until proper security is restored. Over the past two months, Israeli extremists have been staging protests outside the UNRWA compound in Jerusalem, called by an elected member of the Jerusalem municipality. This week, the protest became violent when demonstrators threw stones at UN staff and at the buildings of the compound. Over the past months, UN staff have regularly been subjected to harassment and intimidation. Our compound has been seriously vandalized and damaged. On several occasions, Israeli extremists threatened our staff with guns. It is the responsibility of the State of Israel as an occupying power to ensure that United Nations personnel and facilities are protected at all times. UN staff, premises and operations should be protected at all times in line with international law. I call on all those who have influence to put an end to these attacks and hold all those responsible accountable. The perpetrators of these attacks must be investigated and those responsible must be held accountable. Anything less will set a new dangerous standard.

Air India Statement Air India welcomes back stranded passengers from Dubai on flight AI916D that landed at 1058 hrs IST at Delhi Airport. The aircraft, VT-EDC, ferried a total of 149 passengers. This is the first flight operated by an Indian carrier for the homecoming of passengers amid the ongoing situation in the Middle East. Earlier this morning, 143 cockpit and cabin crew members of Air India and Air India Express who were stranded in Dubai safely arrived back in Delhi on flight AI918D. Our Operations Control Centre and supporting teams have been working around the clock to facilitate these flights in extraordinary circumstances, ensuring seamless coordination throughout. We express our sincere gratitude to the Government of India, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), and the local authorities in Dubai for their continued cooperation in enabling these vital operations. We remain deeply committed to the safety and wellbeing of our passengers and crew, which continues to be our highest priority. Today - 43% of Australians, about 9 million people, have less than $1000 in the bank. That is about 9.2 million people. Also today, Jim Chalmers was running victory laps at the National Press Club. He told us they’re doing a great job managing the economy and have big plans for our nation - as he bounced from slogan to slogan. At some point Labor must stop campaigning and start answering for the mess we are in. A mess the political class have made. The establishment in Australia are so poll driven, so focused on the next sound bite they don’t seem to understand that their plans are not working. Too many Australians are worse off today than they were a decade ago. Housing, groceries and the everyday basics slipping further and further out of reach. Crime increasing as the situation worsens… and yet, the National Press Club in their pant suits fawn over every word that falls from Chalmers. He tells us the Labor government is modernising our electricity grid. As electricity becomes unstable and expensive. How very modern. He suggests they are “seizing the opportunities from Net Zero with a future made in Australia”, as long-standing businesses that used to make things here – close down for good. It sounds to me like he should instead have a PhD in spin. Not that the Australian media has much interest in questioning him. They don’t call out the obvious sloganeering and the absolute dishonesty – the whitewashing of the real situation of the Australian not privileged enough to sit in the club. Worse still, our economic situation is corroding, and it is the government that pours on the acid. Instead of talking about real problems and real solutions, Jim delighted the establishment crowd juggling balls of distraction drenched in sophistry. IT would seem that the big end of town doesn’t really care about Australia; they have the money and mobility to go anywhere – they’re global citizens. Their companies can make things anywhere. The media just want access, so they only ever go so far with their critique. The big banks are too big to fail. They don’t mind the digital cage closing on the rest of us… after all they have the keys. Oh… by the way, Chalmers will help our economy to digitise with a digital ID. That ought to fix it for those who are struggling. I think the government is out of its depth. The economy is getting much worse for real Australians - quickly. The establishment is immune, and the bubble is thick. We don’t really need the newspapers to tell us that it is getting tougher, or that Chalmers is more focused on his slogans than practical solutions. We can see that for ourselves. However, we do need significant cuts to immigration, cheap reliable electricity and a lot less regulation across the board. We need to transition back to an industrial economy. If we don’t, we will not recover – no matter what Dr. Jim says. I just want Australia back.

He also spoke about the Hillsborough Law and the importance of ensuring that people who have suffered institutional injustice are finally given truth, accountability and justice. The ExcludedUK community is one of those communities. More than six years later, thousands remain trapped by debt, lost businesses, lost homes, damaged health and severe mental distress. More than 40 people connected with our campaign saw no other way out than to take their own lives. Towards the end of his leadership speech, Andy also spoke about supporting British business and rebuilding the economy. That promise must include the company directors, freelancers, sole traders, newly self-employed people and small business owners who were legally prevented from trading, denied fair and equal support and forced to carry the financial consequences personally. Andy has taken part in ExcludedUK livestream events, listened directly to our members and repeatedly highlighted the need to secure justice for the excluded. SANParks has launched an investigation to trace and identify a man seen in viral social media footage allegedly engaging in dangerous and unlawful driving inside the Kruger National Park. They described the incident as deeply concerning and condemned the driver’s actions as reckless, irresponsible and a serious violation of conservation laws. According to SANParks, the footage shows the individual illegally crossing rivers with a vehicle, driving on roads that had officially been closed, and operating the vehicle recklessly within the protected area. Authorities said the conduct displayed a blatant disregard for public safety, environmental protection measures, conservation regulations and the authority of park management. SANParks stressed that national parks are protected under strict environmental legislation, including the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA) and the National Environmental Management: Protected Areas Act (NEMPAA). These laws prohibit activities that could damage ecosystems, threaten biodiversity, endanger wildlife or compromise visitor safety. The organisation warned that violations could result in criminal charges, substantial fines, imprisonment, civil claims for damages and administrative sanctions. The agency highlighted that driving through rivers and ignoring road closures can severely damage sensitive ecosystems and infrastructure, while also putting both humans and animals at risk. Road closures in the park are often implemented for critical safety reasons, including flooding, poor road conditions and wildlife movement. SANParks confirmed that officials are actively working to identify the suspect and warned that once located, he could face the full might of the law, including fines and a possible ban from all SANParks-managed protected areas. SANParks has launched an investigation to trace and identify a man seen in viral social media footage allegedly engaging in dangerous and unlawful driving inside the Kruger National Park. They described the incident as deeply concerning and condemned the driver’s actions as reckless, irresponsible and a serious violation of conservation laws. According to SANParks, the footage shows the individual illegally crossing rivers with a vehicle, driving on roads that had officially been closed, and operating the vehicle recklessly within the protected area. Authorities said the conduct displayed a blatant disregard for public safety, environmental protection measures, conservation regulations and the authority of park management. SANParks stressed that national parks are protected under strict environmental legislation, including the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA) and the National Environmental Management: Protected Areas Act (NEMPAA). These laws prohibit activities that could damage ecosystems, threaten biodiversity, endanger wildlife or compromise visitor safety. The organisation warned that violations could result in criminal charges, substantial fines, imprisonment, civil claims for damages and administrative sanctions. The agency highlighted that driving through rivers and ignoring road closures can severely damage sensitive ecosystems and infrastructure, while also putting both humans and animals at risk.
