Interesting how the TV script changes. When footpaths are encroached: “Why are pedestrians forced onto the roads? Why so many accidents?” When authorities remove encroachments: “Why this action?” You can’t demand safe, walkable footpaths and oppose every enforcement drive that makes them possible. This is for every common man & family using footpaths on a daily basis. Please act against every institution that is encroaching the footpaths. Private builders are the biggest nuisance. They don't just occupy footpaths but their construction materials overflow from the footpaths onto the road. This is 17th Main Road in HSR. Kudos to Amdavad Municipal Corporation for doing a good job at designing broad, walkable footpaths at Rajpath Rangoli road. However sadly the design is still imperfect and needs bollards parallel to the road so that entitled car and SUV owners don’t encroach upon them! Also, why not empower pedestrians with an app in which they can take a photo and report and challans can reach the car owners online? Fully automated! Can be an additional revenue stream for the corporation.

A differently-abled man is forced to ride his tricycle on the very edge of the footpath because it has been completely encroached upon by local vendors. While trying to squeeze through the narrow space, he loses balance and falls. This is the reality in India. Even footpaths are not safe or accessible for the people who actually need them the most. Encroachment everywhere, zero enforcement, and complete neglect of basic civic responsibility. A country that cannot even keep its footpaths clear for a differently-abled person should seriously question its claims of development. Sometimes it feels like nothing will ever change in this third-world chaos.

Today, states debate: - Why Vande Bharat is going elsewhere - Why semiconductor plants are coming to another state - Why high-speed rail corridors are not reaching them. That is perhaps the biggest transformation, the ASPIRATIONS of Indians have changed. The demand is no longer for development, it is for MORE DEVELOPMENT. Do listen to this.

You know why SBI left? Fifteen years of TMC rule have allowed such hawkers to occupy footpaths all over Kolkata. People are forced to walk on the roads because the footpaths have been taken over by illegal hawkers who allegedly pay money to syndicate goons. A metro bridge project was stalled for two years because of this politics. I hope BJP West Bengal Government will puts an end to this goonda culture. A viral video claimed that SMC staff threw away a fruit vendor’s grapes at Dalgate yesterday! In reality, the vendor himself threw the grapes with his own umbrella and blamed the SMC staff for it! The vendor was asked twice to leave the area but instead abused and thrashed the Srinagar Municipal Corporation staff! Srinagar’s footpaths and roads are encroached upon by street vendors! While SMC removes them regularly! But a permanent solution is needed! Action is needed before these encroachments become permanent!
