Why the obsession with riding on the footpath even when the road is empty? Reckless riding on footpaths is dangerous and puts pedestrians at risk. This is about civic sense, responsibility and public safety. 📍 NGEF Signal KA03KY1913 Kindly take necessary action.

I would agree with the rider, being a person who rode on the main road, drove into a pothole, and has been hospitalized for the last 3 weeks. Considering that, his decision to drive on the footpath is better, given Bangalore has been developing its footpaths not roads.

Both on footpath n wrong side, I didn’t see wrong side driving tht much 3 yrs back bt now, u see a red light and autos and bikers move to othr side of divider, that can severely cause an accident. I nearly escaped by direct collision to an auto and that auto didn’t even bother.

In fact I would prefer an app developed by police to be used by citizens which will record 9 seconds video & save in police portal. AI will deduce if the motorist broke the law & fine accordingly. The recording citizen gets some % of the fine. This will promote discipline. @CPBlr

One Man’s Patience vs Another’s Recklessness: A Tale From Bengaluru Roads Driving on the footpath and colliding with a car, yet the car owner remains completely calm this says a lot about character. While many people would immediately lose their temper in such a situation, this car driver handled it with remarkable patience and maturity. Even though the two-wheeler rider was clearly at fault for riding on the footpath and causing the accident, the car owner did not react with anger or aggression. Instead, he chose to stay composed and even offered help to the rider. That level of self-control and empathy is truly admirable and reflects a responsible and thoughtful individual. On the other hand, the behavior of the two-wheeler rider is quite concerning. Riding on the footpath is not only illegal but also extremely dangerous. Footpaths are meant for pedestrians, not vehicles. By choosing to ride there, the rider put not only his own life at risk but also endangered innocent pedestrians who rely on that space for safety. This kind of impatience and disregard for rules is unfortunately becoming very common on Bengaluru roads. Many two-wheeler riders seem to lack basic road discipline and patience, often taking shortcuts that compromise safety. Such reckless behavior highlights a larger issue an absence of civic sense and respect for traffic rules. If everyone starts using footpaths as an extension of the road, it defeats their very purpose and creates chaos. In contrast, the calm and understanding reaction of the car owner sets a powerful example of how people should behave in stressful situations. Instead of escalating the conflict, he chose humanity and responsibility, which is something more people should learn from. Overall, this incident clearly shows the difference between reckless impatience and composed responsibility. Karnataka State Police S. Wrong-side driving is dangerous no matter who does it. Watch how a police officer in our city was seen riding on the wrong side of the road and later arguing with a driver who questioned him. Such actions not only violate traffic rules but also put the lives of motorists and pedestrians at serious risk. What shocked many even more was that the officer was allegedly seen using or hiding a mobile phone inside the helmet while riding another major safety concern on busy roads.Vehicle Number: KA01 EP 1183 Traffic rules are meant to be followed by everyone equally. When those responsible for enforcing the law are seen violating it, it sends the wrong message to the public and weakens road safety awareness. Wrong-side riding, distracted driving, and unnecessary arguments on roads can easily lead to accidents, injuries, or even loss of life. Bengaluru already struggles with heavy traffic and road safety issues, and such behaviour only makes the situation worse. Citizens are urging authorities to take note of the incident and reinforce the importance of responsible driving, accountability, and leading by example on public roads. Karnataka State Police S. Negligence or Ignorance? Minor Riding two wheeler KA-04-JU-7038 in Traffic Raises Concern Look at this boy his age, his height and what he is doing on a busy public road. He appears to be no more than 10 years old, yet he is riding a two-wheeler in traffic. He isn’t even able to properly control the vehicle from the seat; instead, he stands on the footboard while riding, and when he stops, he jumps off onto the road and tries to hold the vehicle. This is not just unsafe it is a serious accident waiting to happen. What is even more alarming is the role of the parents. How can anyone allow a child of such a young age to operate a motor vehicle on a public road? This is not a harmless act or something to be taken lightly. It is a clear violation of traffic laws and a direct threat to the child’s life as well as the safety of others on the road. Calling this “modernization” or “confidence-building” is completely misguided. This is sheer negligence and irresponsibility. A child who has barely begun to grow should not be put in a position where one mistake could lead to a life-altering tragedy. Roads are already unpredictable and dangerous even for experienced riders expecting a young child to handle such conditions is beyond reckless. Authorities must take strict action against such violations, and parents need to understand that responsibility comes before convenience or misplaced pride. Allowing a minor to ride a vehicle is not just illegal, it reflects a complete disregard for safety, law, and basic common sense. Karnataka State Police S. Because of such arrogant riders Walking in Bengaluru Feels Like a Death Sentence This scooty rider on Thanisandra Road is not just violating traffic rules; he is openly displaying arrogance and a complete lack of civic sense. Riding on a footpath and then defiantly saying, “I will stand here and I won’t move,” shows how casually some people treat public safety in this city. This is not confidence or bravery it is sheer entitlement and disregard for the lives of others who are actually meant to use that space.A footpath is not an alternative road for impatient riders. It exists for pedestrians children walking to school, elderly citizens, women, and people with disabilities who already struggle to survive on Bengaluru’s hostile roads. When riders occupy footpaths, pedestrians are pushed onto fast-moving traffic, turning every short walk into a gamble with death. This selfish behavior directly contributes to the growing number of pedestrian accidents in the city.Bengaluru’s pedestrian safety crisis is real and terrifying. Every year, more than 200 pedestrians lose their lives, and nearly 28 percent of road accident victims are people on foot. Despite these shocking numbers, illegal riding and parking of two-wheelers on footpaths continues unchecked, especially in areas like Thanisandra. This is not ignorance; it is willful lawlessness, enabled by weak enforcement and a mindset that believes rules apply only to others. People like this rider are not harmless rule-breakers. They are part of the reason walking in Bengaluru has become dangerous. Their convenience comes at the cost of someone else’s safety, yet they show no remorse when confronted. Such behavior reflects a deeper problem where violating the law is normalized and respecting pedestrians is seen as optional. If this attitude continues, Bengaluru will remain a city where pedestrians are treated as obstacles rather than citizens. Authorities must stop tolerating such violations and enforce strict action without excuses. Footpaths are not shortcuts, not parking spaces, and not personal property. They are meant for pedestrians, and reclaiming them is no longer a choice it is a necessity to save lives. Karnataka State Police S.
