I respect Kirk wanting to be objective. I think most OSU fans see him as sometimes going out of his way to criticize Ohio State in ways he would never do to any other program. He wants to prove he's objective so he's sometimes too hard on OSU to overcompensate.

In my opinion, he overdoes the act of impartiality. This is the first time I have observed any indication of him expressing support for his alma mater. However, I must acknowledge that I do not work for ESPN, where the SEC bias is prevalent.

Deep down he really loves Ohio state, I just think that when he started his career he believed he had to hide the Ohio state love so much and become more unbiased to be successful his his career. But sometimes I think he goes way too far away from it
