Pretty clear interference. He’s on the grass on the inside.

Running inside his lane, called out. Everyone on the field saw it right away. Only the batter played dumb! ⚾️

He was way inside the line. Not sure that affected the road, but he was inside the line.

A poor judgement call on behalf of the umps? The running lane is only for the runner if it impedes the players ability to field or throw the ball. This bunt to the pitcher wasn’t anywhere near the near the line and the throw was bad. Runner did use the green bag. Er Ent

Funny that the “internet umpires” who get this rule wrong typically dog real umpires for getting this call right by rule.

Because the batter/runner is outside the runners lane, there is potential for interference, but i dont see how the umps opinion is that he actually did interfere with the 1st baseman fiedling the throw… it’s a judgment call i think they got wrong.

Completely missed touching 1B 🤷🏻♂️

Missed first

Agreed. There’s a runners lane for a reason. He was literally running on the infield. The terrible throw makes the call look awful because he would’ve been safe but it doesn’t change the fact he was a foot or two inside the line instead of being outside the line.

Runners lane interference under NFHS rules. There is no bad throw provision. It’s an automatic call if the throw comes from behind the batter-runner.

Not a good angle to tell, but while he was significantly inside the line, it doesn’t seem like he interfered with the throw - the throw was just bad. I’d probably have a no-call here, but my opinion might be different if I was in proper position on the line like the ump was.

I see a pitcher that threw the ball into a different zip code.

I dunno my Internet Scorekeeper sees E-1. Baserunner never deviated from his line, didn't interfere with the play or the throw.

He's running on the grass, not the runner's lane. Both home plate and 1st base umpires call it at same time. Throw came from behind him.

Forever this was a no call. Now because the fundamentals are so flawed the rules committee has to change interpretation to benefit the defense. That runner had ZERO impact on what was an awful throw. This is a nothing call in the big leagues.

I will go with the Umpires on this one. Runner is skating inside the fair/foul line intentionally to impact the throw. Good call. From the moment he steps out of the box he is running on the grass. That was egregious and a good call.

I thought as long as the runner picks his lane, even if it’s outside the lines, as long as they stay there, it’s fine. Maybe Umps discretion but ultimately if he doesn’t move from that line, he’s good??

Running out of his path to 1st. Doesn't matter the throw was off target. The runner obstructed the throw.

In HS baseball the quality of the throw doesn’t matter, simply being out of the runners lane is grounds for interference. It’s 100% the correct call.
What I see is rage bait by not saying this is a high school game, in which there’s no requirement that the runner interfered with the throw. If he’s running on the grass within 45 feet of first base, he’s out. Period.

So, what was the actual call? Batter lays down bunt, drops bat in catchers path. Catchers stumbles a little bit, points at runner and umps calls runner out. Was it batter interference? Batter stayed in committed path.

I mean, I get that he was running on the grass out of the natural base path. But the rules state that the runner establishes his base path. He did maintain his base path consistently. Yes, clearly on the “grass” but he ran the same line the entire way. It was a bad throw.

Tough call - he never went intentionally out of his way and ran in a straight path once he left the box. This is a joke call for me. Also don’t believe it impacted the throw as much as they act like it did.

Supposed to run outside the line. He ran inside on purpose. Seems to be a pretty easy call - though judging by the pitcher's throw - he would've been on 2nd base had he run outside the line.

No play at first so it doesn't matter where he runs as long as he touches the base.

Clear case of interference

He’s not in the running. Not sure what level this is but if it’s HS it’s an automatic out

Depends on the rule set.

He’s out of the runner’s lane without a doubt.

In NCAA, the throw must come from the home plate area. IMO, this is not in the home plate area. The B-R must also interfere with the ability for the fielder to receive the throw at 1b. That's a judgement call for the ump, so it is what the ump calls. I disagree with the call.

Runners Lane Interference

He never made it back inside the 45’ line. It is a judgement call.

Clear running lane interference. This is a high school game and the quality of the throw doesn’t matter. By rule if the runner is out of the lane and there is a throw being made from roughly behind the batter runner, it’s interference. This is getting called every time in NFHS.
