The farmer is seeking over ₹3,500 crore in compensation for pending rent, interest on it and cost of land. 53-year-old Ashwini Bandhe claims that more than 30 acres on which the terminal has been built and a garden created are his ancestral land. His claim is that back in 1942 the pre-Independence British administration has taken it temporarily to build an airfield. The land, he alleges was never returned and neither was the family paid rent for it. Bandhe has been been fighting a battle in courts for more than 30 years, armed with with government records and family papers.

Two simple questions demolish his argument for green energy. The Green Party MP had just claimed that green energy would provide “thousands of jobs”. Except that solar farms don’t take long to build and are manned by very few people once operational.
