Mac Mini is super nice because you can use native iMessage for talking with OpenClaw. The only problem is that it's very expensive and you need to always have your Mac Mini on to run this setup. So I made a plugin to allow anyone on any computer (either Linux, Windows, or Mac) to be able to have access to iMessage natively. Even better, it has access to all of the reactions, triple dot indicator, etc. Check it out and let me know what you think.

The 2 security risks that come with running OpenClaw. (and how to fix them) Risk 1 — Backend access: Someone gets into your machine and operates as you. Fix: run it on a local Mac, not a cloud VPS. this is a laptop running a 31b parameter model at 99% gpu autonomously through hermes agent, 15 tok/s sustained, 22.8 of 24gb vram gone, 94 watts at 50c. no api keys. no rate limits. no "your prompts are being used for training". no monthly subscription. no anthropic telling me what i can and cant ask. no openai logging my work. no outages when aws goes down. just google deepmind's open weights, open source llama.cpp, nous research's hermes agent, a rog scar 18 on my desk, and 95 watts of sustained compute while it builds stuff on its own. the laptop is roaring. results incoming.

OpenClaw is the best AI agent I've ever used. I run it every single day. But if you asked me to run it on my laptop full-time, I'd say you're making a mistake. OpenClaw is brilliant for accessing your files, reading your apps, and running local AI tasks. But running it on your own machine creates real problems nobody talks about: • Who's keeping it secure when it's exposed to the internet? • What happens when your laptop sleeps or shuts down? • Where are the access controls? • Who's blocking bad bots from hitting your instance? • What if you don't want to spend $800 on a Mac Mini just to run it? That's the main issue with local AI agents: your laptop was never meant to be a server. As far as I know, DigitalOcean is the only platform making OpenClaw cloud deployment this simple. And the security setup is actually impressive: • secret token authentication • bad bot blocking • limited user permissions • Docker containerization All of this configured automatically when you spin up a Droplet. I really don't see any other way forward for people who want OpenClaw running 24/7 without the hardware headaches. By the way, DigitalOcean runs everything in full isolation. They don’t have access to the same files, comments, versions, or decisions your team is working from. So I connected Hermes to Box. Now my Hermes agent can work from Slack, use files, comments, and decisions stored on Box as the single source of truth, and get shi* done.
