Congrats! Q: Will this come with good advice, like doing reps to exhaustion?

Miranda Nover profil fotoğrafı

Miranda Nover7 ay önce

Thank you! Yes, and will personalize the feedback based on the data we get regarding rep velocity and RoM variance. This has limitations due to form factor and sensor fidelity but will adhere to published VBT principles and our own studies so we aren’t overreaching. We support every level of training intensity from basic health through maximum recoverable volume, I’ll talk more about exactly what we tell people in coming posts.

Hey! This is cool. I was just discussing something similar with a gym partner but I have a feature request or an API request so i can add the feature. You already have bluetooth so it should be easy enough to add breathing and heartrate. Lmk if this is on the roadmap.

One of the great things about ⁦Fort Worth Police⁩ is that in between meetings, I can walk right outside my office and witness first hand the outstanding training put on by our officers. We do our best to give our officers the tools, and the training, to protect our streets.

If you can hold 10 kg like this for 40 seconds with a flat grip, I can almost promise you’re among the fittest 0.01% in India. I’d say this is one of the best exercises to test your real muscle and grip strength. This is also a proxy to longevity of life. What do you think, fam? Can you do it? 😊

The strength of your grip is one of the clearest signs of how long, and how well, you'll live. In some studies, a better predictor than your blood pressure. This is a suitcase hold. Pick up anything heavy, hold it on one side, and stand dead straight. Don't lean, don't tip. It's testing two things at once. Your grip, and your core fighting to stop you folding toward the weight. That core strength is what saves your back when you carry things in real life. No machine, no setup. You can do it anywhere. So how long can you hold it?

Muscle strength is arguably one of the most important predictors of healthspan and longevity—far more than muscle mass alone. Low muscle strength is associated with a 50% higher risk of early death. The good news is that strength can be regained at any age through resistance training, even in your 90s. One study showed that 90-year-old participants increased their strength by 174%, walking speed by 48%, and thigh muscle mass by 9% after just 8 weeks of high-intensity resistance training (PMID: 2342214). This highlights that age-related strength loss is primarily a reversible decline in muscle quality—not just lost muscle mass. But there’s another key piece: protein. For older adults, consuming about 1.6g/kg of body weight in protein daily has been shown to maximize gains in both muscle strength and mass. Combining resistance training with adequate protein intake is a game-changer for improving biological resilience, mobility, and overall quality of life as we age. I cover all this and more in Episode 97: The Science of Protein. It’s a must-watch for anyone looking to improve their health or help loved ones do the same. Watch Episode 97 now:

"Bodybuilding doesn't build functional strength!" Sorry, "functional strength" bros, but that silly cope of yours doesn't hold up in the real world. There is no functional and non-functional strength — strength is, by definition, functional, and the strength developed through dedicated bodybuilding training can be applied to any strenuous task. Physiologically, the only way to significantly increase a muscle's strength is to make it bigger. Especially when natural lifters are concerned, hypertrophy IS strength.

Stronger thighs = longer life? Steven Kotler drops this mind-blower: "The single most important thing you can do... leg strength. Thigh muscle mass inversely correlates with mortality." Vishen Lakhiani: "Leg strength correlates with mortality?" Kotler: "No—inversely correlates." Science nugget: Multiple studies back it—higher quad/knee extension strength predicts lower all-cause mortality (e.g., 14% reduced risk per meta-analysis of millions; stronger legs tie to better brain health, mobility, metabolic function, and independence in aging). Legs are your body's biggest muscle engine—neglect them, and the stats show up. Crazy how the foundation of longevity might be... leg day. Do you prioritize legs in training? Ever notice strength gains there changing how you feel/age? Or skipping them and regretting it? Your take 👇
